4Sevens Quark MiNi AA - Neutral Tint - Preorder has Begun!
David has stated here that if we can get a commitment out 100 People who want the same tint and same model he will make it happen.
I am proposing a Quark MiNi AA XP-E Q3 5B.
*Edit* - Emitter has been changed to a XP-E Q3 5A3
If you are sincere and can make a commitment to purchasing this model, please reply to this thread, stating your commitment and how many units you're committed to purchasing. I'll go first.
I'm committed to 2 units.
David,
Thanks for giving this a chance! Here's hoping we get the count needed, and if not, I'll commit to shutting my mouth about neutral tints and the 4Sevens line of flashlights.
Wes
*EDIT* - David has sourced the XP-E Q3 5A3 emitters, production should start soon!
*CUSTOM* Quark MiNi AA Neutral-white Q3 5B $39.00

Re: 4Sevens Quark MiNi AA - Neutral Tint - Commitments needed!
I will commit to that as well, at least one piece. 5C is excellent also, preferred to 5A, but 5B would be just fine. The AA Mini has got to be the obvious choice for a single model for this project. I will probably get a 123 Mini as well, though, from the regular run.

Re: 4Sevens Quark MiNi AA - Neutral Tint - Commitments needed!
I commit to the following if available:
Mini 123
Mini AA
Preon 1 Ti
All in neutral (5A, B, maybe C are fine).
1 each for now. If we need more, put me down for 2 Mini AAs.
EDIT: Sorry, if I'm messing thie thread up, just put me down for 2 mini AAs in neutral.

Would this be with an XP-E (in a Q-something bin)? Or is XP-G available in this tint?

I'm in for one!
However, details about the LED, the bin and the price MUST be specified if this is supposed to work...

Re: 4Sevens Quark MiNi AA - Neutral Tint - Commitments needed!
You guys might also want to specify which emitter (if you care) and minimum flux bin.
Afaik, neutral tints are only available up to the Q4 bin, in the XP-E emitter, at the moment.
So, at least 5 flux bins below the XP-G R5 that these lights were announced with. And a different die size in the XP-E, so the beam will have different profile.
Just something to consider, if you care. Or not.

Yeah, I would wait a little longer for whatever neutral offerings pop up in the XPG package. I'd hate for 4sevens to try to fulfill our demands and then everyone who rushed to get their precious tint complain if new tech rolls in..

Re: 4Sevens Quark MiNi AA - Neutral Tint - Commitments needed!
I'm okay with XP-E Q3 5B as a minimum if there is no Neutral XP-G in sight. David care to give us some info about emitter availability, so we can make an informed decision?

Need some input from David on future availability of neutral XP-Gs...
EDIT: Toosharp beat me too it. I'm okay with XP-E too.

Re: 4Sevens Quark MiNi AA - Neutral Tint - Commitments needed!
Ah, for some reason I thought I read something about CREE pumping out high CRI XPGs or something. It might have been some sort of fixed lighting project...
EDIT: lol I thought this would include a MiNi 123 as well, but if this is for the AA then count me out.

One bin. One model. 100 committed buyers.
If we're operating on Toosharp's premise of
Quark MiNi AA in Tint 5B
I'm in for one.

Quark Mini AA in Tint 5B.
Minimum flux bin Q3. $39/each.
I'll take two ASAP.

Re: 4Sevens Quark MiNi AA - Neutral Tint - Commitments needed!
I'd be in for a Mini123 (I don't know why they didn't name it Q123 using Q as a shortened form of Quark.) in any 5* bin.
The logistics of this is certainly a nightmare, and we do seem to be your pickiest customers.
I'm glad I ordered another Quark Tactical Neutral head.
Also, I ordered the EZ123w right when it came out.
In my opinion, the design of the EZ series is almost impossible to pull off well. The levels are controlled by the length of a spring, and you can't adjust the spring at all. It doesn't sound like many people got the light the way they wanted it.
The EZ123 is where my problem lies, too. I can't justify a Mini123 when I have the EZ123 and EZ123w. It gives me a lower mode, and is maybe a half inch shorter. It is a good price, but to get the model I want, I'd have to send it to Tekno and pay another $40 to put a neutral emitter in it. I would pay $50-$60 for a neutral version, but it is hard to think that $80 is a good price.
Maybe a poll thread before you get them assembled to get the proportions right, and when you get 250 entries (the number of emitters in a reel) or half that number, then send the order out.
Also, from your point of view, making just enough will always work out better. If people really want them, they can always offer to pay a premium on BST. It won't be your problem if there are too few, but it will be your problem if there are too many.
Making a public thread of choosing the neutral tint where people can speak their voice might help a bit, too. Maybe a multiple choice poll, with options like : I would accept 5A, I would accept 5B, I would accept 5C, I prefer 5A, I prefer 5B, I prefer 5C. Also the 3's and what not. And announce that this will be the tint chosen, and if you need an alternate tint that badly, you will have to get your light modded.

Re: 4Sevens Quark MiNi AA - Neutral Tint - Commitments needed!
If the bin is higher than Q3 and the price isn't jacked up I would commit to buy one (It certainly shouldn't cost more than a XP-G R5). My EDC right now is a Connexion X2 modded to Q3-5A so I must admit I am pretty happy in the single AA category.

Re: 4Sevens Quark MiNi AA - Neutral Tint - Commitments needed!
Well, the other thing, is if I can find out if these lights are not too bad to mod, I'll get a cool one and put an XP-E in one to see...
Costs that much to get one modded? Wow, I should charge more.

I'm in for one Quark MiNi AA, 5A (like my Quark AA2) or 5C (like my L-Mini II), XP-E or XP-G, as long long as it's not XR-E due to the CREE-rings.

I'd commit to buy one Quark MiNi AA in Tint 5B.
I'd also commit to one Preon II Titanium in any neutral tint.

Looks like there won't be any Neutral XP-G emitters forth coming for a while. So it looks like if we want a Neutral MiNi it have to be with a XP-E emitter.

Re: 4Sevens Quark MiNi AA - Neutral Tint - Commitments needed!
I would prefer 123 Q3 5A
Failing that, i would want the 5B in 123 format.
failing that, I will take 1 of whatever i can get.
I noticed that he is doing a run of 300 pieces..
what say all of you to 150 of each, 123 and AA?
in that case, I WILL take one of each

I'd like one, but i'm going to wait and see how hard it is to get one of these apart. I'll happily swap the emitter myself. I'm also waiting for the neutral xpg in hopes of r2 5a.

let me know if you decide to do a preon neutral count.
geez no wonder there arent any neutral. too many variables and not enough demand.
i think another alternative would be to have a unsealed version for modders. although is the reflector compatible with the different cree versions.

That's the problem. Cree has yet to even release a bin table for neutral XP-G emitters, they only list cool white (5000 K – 8300 K). The best we could even hope for would be a XP-E Q4.

Commited for 1 MiNi AA Neutral
will probably buy more. Prefer a 4a tint, but most of the 5s will work for me.
willing to wait for xp-g, but will probably be ok with xp-e
