User Interface (UI)
why the LF3XT is a 2 in 1 EDC light? because the LF3XT has 2 User Interfaces. Compact User Interface (CUI), which is the factory default UI, and Full-function User Interface (FUI).

CUI is those who prefer a simple straight forward EDC light, while FUI is for those who prefer to set up thier EDC light exactly the way they prefer.

Both UI provides battery over discharge protection. please refer to the user manual for more info.

Compact User Interface : (Factory default)
the LF3XT always turns on at the user mode.
User mode : 50% output.
one click (1xC) to turn on and one click (1xC) to turn off.

direct access to min output by two clicks (2xC)
direct access to max output by one click plus press & hold (1xC + PH)
direct ramping up/down while in user mode, min output & max output.

4 clicks (4xC) to toggle between the ON/OFF state of tactical/momentary signal function. indicated by a double flash.
5 clicks (5xC) to check battery voltage.
5 clicks plus press & hold (5xC + PH) to toggle between CUI & FUI. indicated by a double flash.

Tactical/Momentary Signal function : default is OFF
Rechargeable battery over discharge protection : default is OFF. user must go to FUI to enable this function.

Memory function : ON
Tactical/Momentary Signal function : OFF
Rechargeable battery over discharge protection : OFF

Operation Mode number : 5

Mode 1 = 50% brightness output
Mode 2 = 15% brightness output
Mode 3 = 2% brightness output
Mode 4 = 50% brightness double flash beacon
Mode 5 = 15% brightness SOS

1 click (1xC) turn on the LF3XT. 1 click (1xC) to turn off.
2 clicks (2xC) jump to next operation mode. Mode 1 -> 2 -> 3 -> 4 -> 5 -> Mode 1.


Types of Output
there are 4 types/styles of output in LF3XT.

1. Constant brightness
2. Strobe - 8 frequencies
3. Beacon - single flash & double flashes with 8 frequencies for both.
4. SOS

the brightness of all 4 types of output is user adjustable from 0.2% to 100%.

the output of all 5 operation modes in FUI can be change by user to the above mentioned 4 types/styles. for example, you can set all 5 operation modes to have

5 different % of constant brightness or
5 different frequency and brightness of strobes or
5 different frequency and brightness of beacon or
5 different brightness of SOS or

any combination of the 4 types/styles in ANY order you preferred.

Quick Access
in addition to the 5 operation modes, the LF3XT provides quick access to the following while in all 5 operation modes (FUI).

100% constant brightness - press and hold (PH)
Random strobe at 100% brightness - one click plus press and hold (1C+PH)

Release the hold on the tack switch and the LF3XT reverts back to the previous operation mode.

Special Functions
the LF3XT also has the following functions.

1. Momentary-on function.
factory default is OFF.

2. Rechargeable battery 2xAA NIMH & Li-Ion & LiFePO4 over discharge protection.
factory default is OFF.

3. Operation Mode setting.
That is right! the LF3XT allows the user to select the desired number of
operation modes (FUI). i.e. output levels. your LF3XT can be a 1 mode light, or a 3 mode light or a 5 mode light!

Minimum is 1 operation mode.
Maximum is 5 operation modes.

4. RESET
Restore the EEPROM to factory default settings.
Light default to CUI.


5. Last used mode memory on/off function.
Users can decide if they want to enable or disable this memory function.
Factory default is ON.

Battery Voltage report = 5 clicks (5xC) in any operation modes.
Brightness % report = 5 clicks (5xC) only while in output setting menu.

both reports use the same format.
1 flash = 1
3 flashes = 3
.
.
9 flashes = 9
2 quick flashes = 0

for example,
0.9V is 2 quick flashes, blank one second, 9 flashes.
100% is 1 flash, blank one second, 2 quick flashes, blank one second, 2 quick flashes.

Logarithmic plus Linear Brightness Adjustment.

the LF3XT has both logarithmic and linear adjustment for the brightness setting. Logarithmic adjustment to quickly jump to the level you want, and linear adjustment for macro adjustment to the exact output level % desired.

the exact output level % can be determined using the brightness % report (5xC) while in the output setting menu.

each logarithmic increase steps raises the output by 50%.
eg. 10% -> 15% -> 22% -> 33% -> 50% -> 75%

each logarithmic decrease steps reduces the output by 33%.
eg. 75% -> 50% -> 33% -> 22% -> 15% -> 10%
