Instructions for new Jet-III "Military" series UI:

Mode Switching
There are two modes on the JETBeam M series flashlights—Max brightness and User-Defined Mode. Users can switch the modes quickly by tightening/loosening the head.
When head is tightened simply click on the light for max brightness; when head is loosened, click on to enter user-defined mode(mode that you programmed to be your second mode ie: strobe, 2 lumen, 50% of max, etc). User can define the infinite brightness levels and strobe functions under this user-defined mode.

User-defined mode setting
Under user-defined mode, switch off/on for three times or more within one second, the light enters Hidden Menu.
Tips: UI is designed to avoid accidental activation of the programmable menu. It is suggested that user half press the button at the tail cap three times or more, and then fully click the tail cap button to enter the programming menu.

Brightness Setting
After entering the Programming Menu, the light goes into the Brightness Setting directly. Under this menu, the brightness will go from Min to Max gradually, and stops at Max, then go back to Min and repeat the process, one cycle takes about 8 seconds. During this process, the light flickers once at Min, and twice at 50% output; and three times at Max (100%) to remind users the current brightness level. Users can switch off the light at any level you prefer, wait for more than 2 seconds to switch on, then the brightness you chose will be memorized as the user-defined mode. Users can set different brightness levels according to preference.

The light does have a true momentary mode by half pressing the tail cap button or click down fully for constant mode.

More pics just posted in post # 49

Regards,
Flavio

More than 200 hours runtime?
I like the sound of that. With Hurricane Ike heading my way, I may need some serious runtime.

I wasn't too enthused when I read the bit about the crenelated tail, but now that you've posted the pics, I really like it. It looks like it should be able to tailstand.

Tell us more about the UI. It's IBS, but only has 2 modes? Is that right? So it's different than my Jet II IBS, which has three modes?

This looks so nice! I am going to have a hard time deciding between the ultra and this one. Any chance of having an ultra version with the SS bezel and cap?

How does this one run for at least 50 hours longer at the same output as the Jet III Pro ST?

The Jet III Pro ST says 2 lumens for 150 hours.
This one says 2 lumens for 200+ hours.

Alex,

The Jet-III "M" is the military/LE model and the Ultra/ST are for the civillian market. At this time, we don't believe the features on the military model will be available on the civillian versions.

Flavio

The Miltary/LE series Jet-III will not use the same UI as the other products. It will have its own unique circuit with only 2 modes and be redesigned to accept CR123 lithium batteries and various other voltages/batteries (18650, R123, CR123). It will be similar in funtion to the IBS UI, but with increased efficiency. It is being designed to simplify use for the Military/LE market.

There will also be a weapon remote and mount available as accessories.

Flavio

Looks like an interesting light. My biggest problem with it is the clip. With it in your pocket, bezel down, it looks like almost half of the body and the tail would be sticking out? If the clip were extended to the end of the body it would seem to be more easily carried. Just my opinion of course.

18650 and CR123? Brilliant!

I've been tossing and turning on whether to hit the buy button on an ST - glad I waited!

Any hints on the UI for mode toggling etc? Bezel twisting involved, or multi-clicking etc?

We don't have the exact specs on the new UI, but it will probably be similar to the current IBS UI. More info will be posted as we get more info.

Well the Jet-III M can only physically fit 2 CR123, however future models may be able to handle more...

I don't think you will want to carry a light this size bezel down in your pocket. More of a bezel down belt carry light if you ask me.

The JET-III "M" should be out sometime in October and the accessories (Remote & Mount) sometime in November. We just received pics of the remote and will post pics later tonight.

You will be able to pre-order this light in the next couple of days.

Flavio

Looks nice... I wonder if there will be a JET-I M (one that uses AAs) of same look and feel (going by what I think is the naming system).

Although we do not have a sample at the moment, from the picture it looks very similar in size to a Jet-III Pro. The Jet-III Pro is a great thrower, but also has some very usefull sidespill. I would say it is the best of both worlds when using the OP reflector. Pricing for the light itself is approx $90 before CPF discount. Accessory prices are not available yet, but I'm sure we will put together a package deal for those interested.

Flavio

IcantC said:"How are modes switched now with the forward clicky?" you must choose the mode before turning it all the way on or else be quick clicking it.
