    My box says:
"Developed and engineered by Armytek Optoelectronics Inc., Canada"
"Assembled by Liang Cheng Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. under supervision and quality control of Armytek Optoelectronics Inc., Canada"
"Made with USA and Japan electronic components"

So, just like Apple ;-) Designed in California, Made in China.
Or, long story short: Made in China.

Mmm, my box says that too. Honestly though I could care less if it was made in Vietnam or Nicaragua, not that I don't care for worker conditions, but if it does what i expected out of the light and more, so what?

    Cheers

Not sure if you guys can see it (iPod photo), but it says the same thing as yours except it also has

"Assembled by Liang Cheng Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. under supervision and quality control of ArmyTek Optoelectronics Inc., Canada"

I've sent emails to Armytek's both email addresses about when they will send the Predator V 2.0 for review, but hey haven't answered for a few days. I guess they're still a bit busy, and the reason I say this is because I have the Predator V1.2, and I assume yours is the current model V 2.0

    Cheers

To me "Developed, engineered, and assembled by Armytek Optoelectronics Inc., Canada" does not mean that it is developed, engineered, and assembled in Canada -- but by an incorporation ("inc.") incorporared in Canada.

In other words, I read "Armytek Optoelectronics Inc., Canada" as the official name of the company "Armytek Optoelectronics Incorporation (in) Canada".

So they (the Canadian incorporation) do assemble their products but in China using subcontractors.

I don't care either where the lights are made. But ArmyTek always avoids clear answers to those questions for reasons unknown, so I think Cavannus and I are right. Their lights are made in China, regardless which modell.

Even top-notch Apple products are made in China so there is no shame that things are produced in Chinese factories. They can produce modern fighters, lasers, high-end audio, supercomputers so they also can produce complex flashlights as someone else has made the proper designs and quarantee good QC... ArmyTek seems to be multi-national company so they simply have no answer for your questions who exactly they are. One thing is important that they can make excellent flashlight and they listen to their customers.

Having contractors is almost mandatory for any company due to the cost of creating a workshop from scratch, so there's noting wrong with Armytek doing it:

When you start a small manufacturing company, you have two options:
--> Option 1: you find or build a shed, buy a few machine tools, hire workmen, taskmasters, etc., and train them. The initial cost is very high and you have almost no flexibility when the demand gets higher or lower.
--> Option 2: you find a contractor that already have all the machine tools + all the trained workmen + the wide flexibility you need. Plus an extra called "experience".

In both cases, you (i.e. the president or engineer) won't machine the flashlights yourself: workmen do it for you, the only difference is the employer's name written on their paycheck.
Furthermore if no contractor around your local area can or will do the job (as it happens quite often, according to some of my friends), you may find your contractor in China.

Anyway, I think we would like to learn more about Armytek because this is a nice company: they've been creating innovative and beautiful flashlights that no other manufacturer offers, and we expect a nice story such as "a Canadian flashaholic collector met a Russian electronic engineer on CPF and they decided to create their own brand...".

P.S. - Thanks Bill for re-opening the thread.
