What was the tint on the v10r AE? As a comparison.

I believe it was 4500k. I could be wrong.

Well, I got my V11R yesterday, but it is going back to BJ for an RMA. I noticed right away when opening that it was a little scratched up, and the control ring had a LARGE gap, and could shift in it's groove, causing it to lose/gain dampening depending on where it sat; it almost looks like it was halfway screwed apart. I tried to screw it tighter with my hands, but no go. I also noticed that the titanium switch was installed, which, from what I hear, is opposite of how they are supposed to arrive now. Did I just get a bad light, or is this a possible return/resell from BJ? I've never had an issue with them in the past?

Did it include the rubber switch cover as well? If so, it might be from the old batch that originally came without the rubber cover and they just added one to the box when they got them, or it could be a return that someone else switched in the Ti cover. Are the scratches on the ring around the switch? If it doesn't include the rubber cover, you definitely got one from the old batch.

It did include the rubber cover, but the metal switch was installed originally...I'm assuming an older one, but not sure. There WERE scratches both on the end (2 chips on the tail, and a large scratch near the head. BJ replied and told me they only sell new stock and don't resell returns if they've been opened, but on SWM you can't tell an unopened from an opened without physically inspecting the items. I'm wondering if that's what happened. At any rate I have an RMA and will be sending the light back. Hopefully all goes well with the next one!

Got the replacement today. This one is flawless. Too bad the holster on this one is sewn waay too small...it may fit a Maglite Solitare.

It makes me smile to see how small it is...

Regarding the tight-fitting holster, perhaps inserting a 3/4" piece of wood dowel in it might help stretch it for an easier fit.

Otherwise, it is indeed a great light. Got my sights on the new C10R now...
    Regards,
    Steve

Thanks for the tip, I'll try it and see how it works. It was clearly sewn incorrectly looking at it, as one side has a BUNCH of extra overlap that is just hangin freely inside (if that make sense).

In regards to the C10R, I heard that news a day late...otherwise I would have probably waited for it. I LOVE the UI of the "Smart Switch" on the T40CS, and would love to have a matching EDC. Oh well, maybe my next light.

Merging the feature set of the V11R (AA cell compatibility, fully variable magnetic control, 500-lumen capability) with that of the C10R (Smart Switch, low-voltage indicator) and you would have the perfect EDC, IMO.

Maybe I need a flamethrower like the T60CS, instead. Vaporize cockroaches and blind prowlers.

I recieved my V11R the other day, and they included the titanium switch assembly as well. Not just the cap for it but complete with switch and stuff. Looks like they red the feedback here!

SWM wins points from me because of this, not many companies seem to care. <3

Have a V11R on order, but don't yet have cells run it on. Obviously it likes voltage to give of its best and was considering getting some AW R123A's and 14500's. Does anyone have a strong preference for what they are running?

My V11R runs exclusively on AW RCR123's and gives me a lot of satisfactions.

Thx for the welcome kilovolt And for the feedback on battery type as well. Would have to say its a pretty steep learning curve to get up to speed on what on the surface of it, didn't appear to be a complicated subject.... As they say, ignorance is bliss. Being that I have a couple of RCR's AND 14500's coming, it will be interesting to experiment with both types.

Should be pretty similar with the exception of the AA would be extended. Output/runtime should be identical.

I've got a V11R inbound and want to get some R123's to get the 500 lumen output. Are the AW brand models the best to get? Is there a forum sponsor who is the best source?

AWs are generally regarded as the best in most sizes (some other companies offer other popular choices, especially with 18650s). AW actually has a sales thread over in the dealers corner, which is where I got my 14500s. I had no issues ordering from them. You can also get them on lighthound.com, which is another popular source.

Got mine a couple days ago and so far it's great. You get the exact amout of light you want or need.
Mine came with the rubber cap installed & the metal one bagged.
