Hi Again Guys and Girls,
Firstly I would just like to say that I have a strong suspicion that most of you more experienced flashaholics will probably initially think that this is another one of my really silly ideas, but I ask you to try and think back to a time to when you were a "newbie" yourself and then to try evaluate this idea of mine from that person's perspective, and so now my suggestion goes a little something like this:
I as do most others, consider myself to be a relatively highly intelligent and technically minded person (you can start laughing now!) but when I first joined up here and on CPF, and sometimes even a little now, whilst reading through some of the many threads/posts one of the most daunting and confusing things that I have found (except for dealing with Greta that is......that was a JOKE by the way) was trying to work out just exactly what some of the "lighting lingo" actually meant such as certain technical terms, abbreviations and the many numerous acronyms and initialisms. With this in mind I have come up with this idea just to try and help to speed up the initial learning process and to also make it a lot easier to understand for the relatively uninformed newcomer, or the less experienced wannabe flashaholics in general or just for the plain old not so technically minded amongst us (none of which is me of course) but I think that it would be a really great idea to maybe have a "Glossary Of Terms" page or sticky that would ideally be very easily accessible so that it can be used as an immediate source of reference.
From a "Newbies" or a recently "Enlightened" person's point of view, or even a veteran Flashaholic that actually cheated on his test, you wouldn't have to look very far through just a few of the threads both here and at CPF to get an idea of what a linguistically challenging mine field it can often appear to be. So some opinions please, and you can send them my way whether they be good or they be bad and either way, my ears are both open and open to both!![]()
Sincerely Yours
Phil Ament
P.S. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!! I just wasted my bloody time typing all those numerous creative threads in this stupid "Issues & Inquiries" forum, yet I've only just been informed that they DON'T go towards my post count!!! Jeez, if only I'd known this earlier on I would have just gone to.
P.P.S. Sorry about that guys (and girls). It was just another one of my weak Australian attempts at humour.
