Most people would call that listening to your customers. The Ti+ is a significant upgrade from the old Ti. If you already have a Ti2, then it's not really an upgrade (unless the clip is really important to you), so you probably don't need one.

Sunwayman's not engaging in any sort of shady marketing to gain profit here, they're attempting to gain profit by offering an improved version of a product that has an excellent track record--this is definitely a legitimate business practice.

As for offering the new head to be purchased on it's own, yeah, that would be nice for us, but you can't really blame SWM for not doing it. If all you want is the new head, hit up BST a few months after these come out, and get one from someone who decides they like the XP-G version better.
Totally agree. This isn't so much a different variant of the same light, it's an upgrade to an existing product with several things that customers have asked for or been doing in the aftermarket. Upgraded emitter, screw on clip, Ti switch. If you don't feel the upgrades are something you need, stick with the current version and wait a year for the next upgrade.

They really should though, let you choose between emitters, tints, bezels, switches, bodies, and whatever else.

Yeah, that would be very cool, but a logistical nightmare to try to work out. I have no clue about SWM's staff size, but I bet they'd need to hire quite a few new people in order to work that out. Also, being based overseas and shipping stock to dealers in the US means a lot more hassle for the dealers as well if they have to start keeping separate parts in stock, assembling orders (or shipping unassembled lights), etc. Not saying it can't be done, as I know a lot of companies do it, but it would take quite a bit of work for SWM to get to that point. Maybe in the future this is something that SWM could do. It can't hurt to ask (and they've proved they listen to us).

For now though, I'd rather have them focus energies on just making great (whole) lights

I agree with multiple people here that Ti+ is a total upgrade from the original Ti with the xml. However, if you already have the v10r xml, that's just a material upgrade to Titanium. Like if you have a cloth version of a bag and decide you want to buy the leather version, given everything else is pretty much the same.

I'm hoping that's a near future. Not even selling parts, just picking and choosing emitters. Options like XP-G XM-L, and so forth with each having cool, neutral, and warm tints. Heck even the Nicha 119 High CRI would be a nice option to have.

I am concerned about run time. My XPG starts flickering very quickly on a primary so I am forced to use 16340s and isn't easy to find unprotected ones. Since the demands of an XML emitter are higher than the XPG , batteries can't last more than a few minutes, I think.

I've got the V10R AE. It's max is lower than the Ti+ will have, so it'll probably get slightly better run time, but it can go about 20+ minutes (with breaks for cooling) on my cheap ultrafire 16340's.

The XM-L emitter does give significantly higher output than an XP-G, but part of that is because it's more efficient. So, If you dial the Ti+ with XM-L to match the output of your old Ti with XP-G, the Ti+ ought to last longer.

I've had my V10R Ti since August, running primaries I've used maybe 4. I use it every day.

Since this is not a limited edition, you may want to try dealers in Hong Kong like hkequipment.

I just ordered a V10A XML T6 from hkequipment and booked the Ti with lightjunction. In hindsight I wonder whether I should have emailed hkequipment and asked them to take prepayment for the Ti. I don't know whether their service is that personal.

Are there any official facts. Some stores in Germany states that the V10R Ti+ is a Limited Edition.

    http://www.flashlightshop.de/product...oducts_id=8431

Therefore it would be interesting if it is limited or not. also nice would be pictures of the Ti AA extender for the V10R Ti+. A lop pages are saying the lights wille be available ~23. March 2011. since this are less thatn two weeks any official stuff would be great.I do not want to buy a pig in a poke.

Just preorder with paypal using the new pay after delivery so you don't have to pay until item is delivered. The avaliable unit tracker on lightjunction website updates in real time. It was at 6 and after I placed the order its now at 5 units left.

I was thinking about ordering in Europe but everywhere I look its about 198 euro. I've decided to preorder from GoingGear.com because with CPF discount code even if I add VAT and customs duty I'll save about 40euro.

They (Sunwayman) may be loosely defining the Ti + as a "limited edition/limited run", which is actually what they said about the first V10R Ti. It is in the first product shot on their webpage for the original Ti: http://www.sunwayman.com/html/products/201012/46.html

I'm think I recall reading somewhere that there were only 1000 of the original Ti V10R produced, but I might be wrong on that. Regardless, they defined the first Ti as a limited run, and I think there were plenty to go around. The Ti+ will probably be the same way.

Default Re: Specs on V10R Ti+?

AFAIK Original V10R Ti all sold out but there was such a high demand for this light that Sunwayman introduced v2 with lighter orange peel reflector, soft start for the LED and slight change in ramping curve (which results in slight flicker in the final third of the ring rotation). In other words the V10R Ti you see in the stores now is not the same original limited V10R Ti. So yeah - there was about 1000 units of the original V10R Ti but they sold out instantly and if the TI+ has similar limited run they will not last long and we don't know if Sunwayman will make more this time.

It's funny, every time Lightjunction's Ti stock goes down to 1, it gets reset to 20 units. I wonder whether SWM made thousands of them.

It's no skin of their back with pre-orders. They have sufficient funds when the time comes that SWM is ready to ship to pay for them (and then some). AFAIK no one has been informed what the production run is (in progress). Of course, I could be mistaken.

If you were talking about that last one with the AA extension, it was not worth over $130 (including shipping) for me. I made the last bump to $125.50 and let the other guy have it. Had a feeling if I had pushed it a few more dollars, I would have ended up with the light.

For those of you who haven't seen it, Sunwayman put the pictures of the V10R Ti+ and AA extender up. The extender still has the hex ring and the U2 XM-L looks very blue.

I would say the tint is pretty close to matching that of the U2 that SWM used in the Ti^2 limited edition gold and black lights.

If it doesn't a little polishing will make it even better! I'm not sure if I'm going to like the clip, looks like it might tear pockets up...

Here's the best explanation of how to do heat anodizing of Ti that I've found: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/sh...itanium-scales

Here's the physics behind it, if you're into that sort of thing: http://mrtitanium.com/interference.html

I would really like the V10R if the control ring curved outward in the middle, like the way a plain wedding ring does. It could still have the fancy engraving on the outer surface, but the ring needs to be more obvious when I slide my fingers along the head trying to find it.
