Just an FYI....
Steve's email to make payment ended-up in my "Junk" folder. We’ve emailed back and forth in the past, so I’m not sure what on my end is different this time and triggered the move of this particular email to the Junk folder, but I figured I’d offer a heads-up in case anyone else experiences this issue. Please note that this was NOT Steve’s fault and was most likely caused by my strict email settings responding to the request for payment and assuming it was SPAM, which it obviously isn’t. I’ve now marked “Veleno Designs <sku@velenodesigns.com>” as a safe email address in my email program to guarantee that this won’t happen again.
Hope this helps anyone else who is frantically watching for an email notifying them to send payment for their new 44DD.![]()

Does anyone have any thoughts on how the PVD might wear over time? Cheap coatings on watches seem to nick up pretty easily. I am very interested in this coating, but don't have much experience with it.
it depends on the hardness of what you bump it against. PVD will scratch just like Ti. do you like a patina ? some people like to
see the patina of wear over time. if you plan on reselling but also wish to EDC you should keep it off the chain and in your own
fluffy pocket or holder.
AlTiN and the like won't scratch in your pocket, as the coatings are harder than anything else, unless you carry your diamonds in that pocket. AlTiN is used to harden drill bits to extend their life by several times - it is Very hard.
it is hard, but could scratch if used daily. your mileage will vary depending on exposure to fine grit
Gold: 380 Vickers
Steel: 600 Vickers
Temperature hardened steel: 800 Vickers
PVD coat: 1800 Vickers
PE-CVD coat. 2200 Vickers
Tiain coat: 3500 Vickers
Sapphire (crystal): 4000 Vickers
Diamond: 6000 Vickers
Hard enough, unless your grit is carborundum from sandpaper. My Draco has been keychain carried for almost three years, and shows no visible signs of wear.
the options seem limitless...so the wait continues~~~

From what I gather PVD coatings should be pretty scratch resistant. Definitely more resistant that straight titanium. I have some seen some photos where PVD coating has come of, but I assume it has chipped off due to the light being dropped.
Paypal sent for 1 x 44DD with:
neutral
flood
2 yellow trits
1 10280
shipping
Thank you,
Michael
I saw a review of this light on KeychainPockets, and after many twists and turns finally found my way here.
I am very interested, but woefully ignorant of the specifications and the different choices you offer. After much reading, I now know more now about the possible coatings than I do about the internal components. Could someone explain the differences, or suggest a site that would help me make an informed decision? Like what the differences are between the available LED's? And what is TIR optics? I seem to be the only person to ask these questions, so I apologize if this is the wrong place to be asking.
Is there any chance of another Stainless Steel run?
TIR is the reflector
a high efficiency optic utilizing Total Internal Reflection (TIR) to collimate lambertian light from an LED
LED's are flood or spot (how wide it is or how far it throws)
LED colors...CRI is color rendering index. colors look more like they do in natural sunlight the higher the CRI..reds are red, green is green, blue is blue...
LED neutral/warm is good for rendering outdoor colors somewhat normal, easier on the eyes to some...
LED cool is your standard white tint LED beam and the brightest
