    to cnqualitygood / ric,

do not think that the because of the battery problem we are going to be negative about your products,

i think the product fault lies more with the tolerance of the manufacturer...

i see your website has updated with some interesting new products

My protected 3100's didn't fit. I ended up using unprotected NCR18650A's.

    "out for delivery with courier"

I'm on pins and needles! What will the CNQG shipping roulette bring my way? Will report after I get home from work.

Maybe third word shipping takes longer because it is not only international, but interplanetary?

Package received and it was a plastic envelope. Wife opened it up. Sonuva...multiple damage points on bezel. I've seen the pictures and it's ugly. I am a very, very unhappy and disappointed person.

RIC/CNQG, I am going to be looking for you to make this right.

Anyway - Last night I took out a few lights to play, and was intending on doing some beam shots, etc...and got interrupted by a family emergency...so, All I had time to do was a few preliminary sweeps of a test area with a DEFT edc LR, modded X10, S18, etc...the dedomed SR90 and the Magic Gashfire. (What I've been calling the Magic Scorpion...)

    Magic Gashfire:
The ton of artifacts that were observed on whitewall shots were not evident outside (Not unusual for artifacts luckily), and, once warmed up, it did throw decently, with a floody beam for an HID, but, OK for what I use these sorts of lights for. There was a lot of spill, and it did project a decent beam though, but the "Dowel" was visibly fattening as it headed off into the distance, a very narrow cone so to speak.

I haven't checked the distances I swept yet , but I think it was at least 400 - 800 yards or so minimum with enough light to see things, further with the usual "throw limit lumens", etc. (Lake shore, so parts were closer or further as I swept the beams around, etc...)

    Dedomed SR90:
The SR90 still has quite a lot of peripheral light, more than enough spill to walk around with, etc...but throws a nice dowel shaped beam of light, its like the corona was put into the hotspot, but the spill stayed similar.

That allowed me to put a pretty good sized hot spot on the opposite shore of a local lake at ~ 1/2 mile range, etc...very cool really.

The Gashfire could reach the other shore too, but the light was more diffused, and details were harder to make out. IE: With the Gashfire, I could see the tree line up from the shoreline, but it was hard to make out individual trees, maybe a couple bigguns, etc... but with the SR90, I could see the individual trunks, etc.

The DEFT edc LR could put a square of light on the treeline as well at that range, but closer in resolution to the Gashfire than the SR90....but a smaller patch of light.

The other throwers I had handy couldn't reach that far, other than to make the leaves glow a little...IE: If I was in a boat at night, trying to see which way land was, the others might tell me it was THERE, but, not much else. The Gashfire or DEFT would tell me the land was there, there was a shore line, and then a treeline up from that...and the SR90 would tell me that there was also a keg of beer leaning against one of the tree trunks.

    If that helps?

    Here we are, guys.

The packaging it came in. Plastic envelope, bubblepack envelop, and a few wraps of what appears to be previously used bubble wrap.

And now the damage. Drop on the edge of the bezel is jagged and rough, like it hit rough concrete. Two gashes on the head. Not pictured, tiny nicks on the tailcap.

And here's the culprit. An impact/abrasion hole big enough to stick a pencil through.

RIC, I want you to make it right.

    1) Send me out a replacement properly boxed and protected as befits a $200 piece of electronic equipment. When I receive the replacement and verify that it is in new condition and proper operating state, I will return yours at your cost.

    2) You offer me a substantial partial refund to keep this damaged, unresellable item.

    3) You send me free of charge and at your cost, a replacement bezel ring in pristine condition and a meaningful refund to compensate for the damage to the finned portions of the head.

In my book china to Europe in less 1 working day is superb. Now I realise it doesn't help you guys but I did get speedy service from DHL

Take a look at my latest post over on the CPF thread. I'd never use non-IMR unprotected cells in this light.

It's not entirely terrible, this situation. I'm quite happy with the output and the color. The beam profile is useful and beam quality is fully acceptable. I doubt it's putting out a true 4,000 OTF lumens, but it's close enough. Now if only it hadn't arrived in the disappointing condition it arrived in.

Just received mine also with two gashes on the head but no others issue. DINOSAUR 18650 3100MA http://www.thaipowerlight.com/Batt-D...r-18650-3100mA fit ok and hot spot look ok with no artifact.
Package was in a very good condition no damage to the envelope or bubble.

I thought that was suspicious as well. Prior to finding the big hole in my packing bag, the dark side of my mind was thinking that a bunch of damaged lights were being unloaded and the poor packing was used as cover. Tee, Lightknot, MohanJude, me, you, maybe BVH all had similar damage. I thought it was odd that the bubble wrap and inner bubblepack envelope were intact...but. Nah. It couldn't be. Could it? I mean some undamaged units were getting through. So if the packing was insufficient for one, shouldn't it be insufficient for all? And why the one unit delivered packed in a box? Too many questions in my tired mind.

But then again, the rim of the bezel is where I'd expect damage to be if there was any. I just can't explain the sharp gash on the fins where there was no penetration of the interior bubble. I'm stumped.

That's what I thought too. My packaging was not beaten up at all and it should not have damaged from the shipping so I think it should had happened before that. Package was in a very good condition no damage to the envelope or bubble.

I think you guys who are still waiting on the light (Patriot etc) should not open the packaging without taking photos and 'forensic exam' your torch and packaging to ensure that any damage is consistent with gashes and tears on the bubble wrap. I am starting to look at the photos and wondering how you could get some of the gashes and gouges on the bezel and not have the bubble wrap torn to shreds. If the sharp end of a roller wheel caught the flashlight I would expect the packaging to be torn a lot more. I am not a expert but I have had 'worse' packaging from some sellers and the stuff has come in tact without a scratch. I am starting to wonder? I am wondering if the flashlights originally were all inside one box and bumped on each other and caused the damage during initial transit prior to dispatch?

    BVH,
Thank you for the advise. I also have AW 2200's. They fit fine. I will just use the AW 2200's with this HID. 30~40 mins run time will be more than enough for my use. On the other hand, the NCR18650A's have more clearance between cell and body tube than AW2200's.

AW2900 are tight. I had to peel the silver labels. I ordered a set of AW3100 from WonderLite.

have you think about selling those 18650 IMR cells?
they are safer then the unprotected lico cells.
    much much safer.

Hey guys, solving the battery fitment problem is easy. My Redilast 2900s wouldn't fit. I don't mean they were tight, I mean they absolutely would not fit without damaging the cells. Removing the labels would not have been enough. So, I broke out the 'ole Dremel with a sanding wheel to take care of that nasty little edge that lies just beyond the threads. In only about 5 minutes it was nice and smooth. The 2900s fit fine! This was *VERY* easy to do.

I would recommend this to anyone, even if your cells seem to fit. It's only a matter of time until that sharp edge takes it's toll on your cell's shrink wrap.

One more tip. Check the rings where the head makes connection with the battery carrier. It will have two solder blobs. Be sure that they are smooth. The outer blob caught the spring and bent it over 90 degrees the very first time I screwed on the head. No problem, it bent right back with very little effort. So, I hit them a lick with the Dremel wheel and smoothed them out. No further problems. It only took like 10 seconds to do both of them.

BTW, my light arrived with only the tiniest little ding on the bezel. After addressing the above issues I am 100% satisfied with my light. It performs as I expected and the overall build quality is surprisingly solid. This light is an amazing value.

I don't know if it works, because I'm loading cells now....
So.. Does it work? I tend to avoid being early adopters of any product because of the bugs/issues associated with them, especially with cnquality. I bought the 3rd or 4th version of the DRY with updated drivers and battery carriers which were the problems with the earlier versions. Honestly i think i'll get the 2nd version of this as well Hopefully by then they would work out the battery tolerances, improve shipping and add in a real 50W ballast and bulb!

This post has been copied into the thread discussing the packaging / shipping issues; and all the posts on the packaging topic that were in this thread have been moved to that one.

We'll keep this thread for discussion of the light itself, rather than shipping / packaging. Please post about that in the other thread.

I suppose 'brusied' packaging would be any borken bubbles in the bubble wrap, scuff marks on the platic, if there are carboard inserts any indentations. I am seriously wondering how all this many people have received lights that are damaged only 'slightly' and no marks on packaging. I have received many poorly packaged items over the years and thankfully in the majority of times the item inside has had no gashes. The occasions where I have had gashes is when multiple itmes have been knocking each other (I think they call is kiss bumps) and cause damage to each other. I am a avid fountain pen collector and they are made of softer materials such as Sterling silver etc and even poor packging of this cyclinder shaped objects have failed to cause so much recurrent / repeated damage
