Yes, I can de-dome an LED.

To the others, I'll post my results. (Regarding this matter of de-doming an LED, iff for some reason in the future the LED has problems, the customer bears the cost of replacement.)

Send me an email me about it. ( waynej@elektrolumens.com )

Wayne maybe you have checked them out already - I remember you saying you would prefer a SMO reflector - there is a manufacturer that makes custom reflectors that advertises on CPF http://www.phoenixelectroforms.com/ might be worth a look for that throw monster.

SMO reflectors will give a higher lux reading, but quality of the beam suffers, compared to textured reflectors. The reflectors I use have a facet design, which improves the quality of the beam.

Very true Wayne beam quality is nice to have, what ever you decide is great. I just thought you wanted max throw (as we do) as that is the purpose of these lights throw for Searching not for EDC-ing.

BTW thanks for fixing that stuff up from paypal for me

And just for a plug for Wayne's lights if you look in my sig line you can see how bright those fireswords are, I'm still amazed how bright it is (with good run time)

The CNC machined parts are scheduled to be completed and delivered to me on 2/20/2012

As far as I know this is on schedule.

Getting close to delivery time on the ST90 Search & Rescue Extreme.
I picked up a large hand gun carrying case, cut out the foam to fit the ST90:

I'll see if I can get out and take some beam shot videos. Tonight might be good, as it appears it will not be raining. If I do I'll post about it. My YouTube channel is Elektrolumens

Really looking forward to this one.
How have you found the tint Wayne? I was wondering if the diamond faceted reflector would even out any tint diferances across the beam pattern.

Also have you ever burnt in an SST90, giving it an even higher output again?

The tint is not changed or degraded, by removing the dome, the quality of the beam did not degrade, as far as I can tell. I cannot say for sure but it may be a bit narrower, but the beam is already so narrow it's difficult to tell. This is really a thrower. My distant neighbors may be wondering about the lights beaming onto their houses. I have to stop doing that.

I have burned in the SST90 in the past. I did not burn in this LED. It only has perhaps an hour or so on it. When I burn them in, it takes 24 hours. I don't think I can do burning in of LEDs for everyone.

    That's great Wayne

When you burn leds in, do you just run the light for 24 hours @ normal voltage/current? or do you use that method that some use that runs it at higher currants/voltage (in small bursts for keeping heat under control) and that raises the Amps of the led.

If your method does raise the Amps then could you do it for mine please, even if it cost a little more.

I use my bench supply to power the SST-90 on a big heat sink. But right now this power supply is not working for some reason. It puts out up to 10A. My other bench power supply only goes to 5A. I need to get my bigger power supply repaired, or, figure out what's wrong with it. Might be a fuse or something.

    Wayne:
Have you received confirmation from your machine shop that the parts will still be delivered by Feb. 25? I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product. If it is as fine as your other CNC/HA-III products, it should sell fairly quickly.

The parts are nearly completed, but doesn't look like I'll have them by 25th. Will be next week though, but I don't know the exact day as of yet. I'll let everyone know when I know.

I asked for the lettering on the tail cap to be done after the anodizing, so it will stand out. Here is what the tail cap logo will look like.

I'm thinking about having some baseball type caps made up with this logo (except flip the letters around so they are not upside down.), perhaps something in a light jacket or sweat shirt?

Here are a few pics of the finished machined parts.

Black HAIII hard anodized. Lettering on the tail cap.

I do not have the parts yet, it will be around March 9th before I get them.

    Wayne - Sounds great!

I would recommend going to the web page that your sig links to, and proofing the spelling.

    Example:

ST90 Search and Rescue, Extreme, CNC Lathed, Blach HAIII Hard Anodizing

    Change Blach to Black, etc.

Hey Wayne have you seen the new CBT 90 led? it goes to 13.5 amps and puts out 2700ish lumen's (probably more if pushed harder) & it has no dome. https://picasaweb.google.com/1078503...77950824525682

    I've been seeing these discussed - A souped up pre-de-domed SST90.
