Default UFC 127 Penn vs Fitch

Do any MMA fans think BJ Penn has any chance to stop Fitch. Not even GSP could submit or knock out Fitch. And no one else has even come close.

I think BJ Penn will win. He methodically picks his opponents apart in standup & he's almost impossible to take down. Fitch wins most of his fights by decision after going the distance.

If the fight were 5 rounds Penn wouldn't have been and to see through the swelling. Penn may have out pointed fitch in the first two. But that was literally all he had to offer. Fitch punished Penn the whole third round. We need five rounds for non title bouts that are the main event.

Another option would be to go to a fourth round in the case of a very close fight. Anyway, I think we'll see a Penn vs Fitch #2.

I think that Penn is going to end up like Prince Naseem.

Think penn lost him self a bit, not as well rounded as he used to be. He seems to be relieing on his take down defense and his standup only.

Who's psyched for GSP vs Shields? I like GSP, but Shields looks good on paper. As much as I'm a fan of Couture, I think Machida is faster and more agile.

LOL ... Couture, shouldnt he think about retiring now.
He still at the top of the game and maybe he should gracefully retire
I wouldnt want to see him go the same route as the likes of Ken Shamrock
    and (ouch !!! ) Sakuraba.
It gets kinda embarrassing watch these legendary fighters well pass their prime
continue to fight and lose or in Saku's case have body parts fall off

    Lol about Saku.

However, Couture did lose a few teeth I believe.

    GSP...boring as always.

BJ Penn is far too small for the welterweight division, especially with the huge 170'ers fighting there now. BJ Penn is listed at 5ft9, but watch his stare downs with GSP, Matt Hughes, Jens Pulver, and many other's and you will see that he is a weak 5ft7 at most, most certainly not even close to 5ft9. The shortest welterweight's on average are 5ft10, making BJ at least 3 inches shorter than the shortest opponents he faces, many guys are 6ft and over, and most importantly when he fights at welterweight, he doesn't even cut any weight, I think most of the time he is weighing around 168 pounds with a little belly fat, when in the meantime guys like Jon Fitch, GSP, and Thiago Alves are cutting tremendous amounts of weight just to make 171lbs. BJ is best at 155 lightweight, and that's where he belongs. He may have been welterweight champion at one time, that that was a different time with a different generation of fighters. I expect him to retire before long, but he is still one of the greats, no doubt about it.

Dont get me wrong. BJ Penn is, in my opinion, the second best pound-for-pound fighter in the world and I dont see how GSP is going to be able to stop him.
