my dad, Walterr839, has one of your chargers and he loves it. I'm looking to get one myself. Right now, i'm using just 18650, and some NiMH for a preon 2. What would you recommend for them? Also, the difference between lefties and righties? Just which side the USP port comes out of?
Ah! That glow looks killer! Wish you had this when I ordered!
Received my Nona. Love it!
I would just like to inform everyone that I recently purchased a pair of XTAR 3100 mAh 18650's and they are not very magnetic, my quad is having problems with them.
It would be great if you came up with a cradle of some sort for this situation.
...It makes people wonder!

buy some 18650 holders cheap from digikey 2.66 each
http://www.digikey.com/product-searc...K-18650-PC2-ND
then you can clip onto the tabs that stick out of the holder
Heyup, how much for a single current (400mah) charger with display, in UKP posted within the UK? Cheers!

Jason, thanks for the suggestion, but the alligator clips are worse. The cells are great though, thanks.
Localhost, I will look into those holders, 👍

Hi there, i am interested in a smallest charger quad version, i am based in the UK, how much would it be in GBP for one of these or do i just pay in dollars through paypal?
Looking forward to your reply!
Cheers, Neil!
I finaly found time to test the nona charger, and it seems i have a similiar problem as .The charger seems to not charge the batteries fully.
I have run a few tests on 4 batteries:
1. 14500 Trustfire, black with flames(new )
2. 18650 Blue ultrafire (Few cycles on it)
3. 18650 Green Sony Cell (from used laptop battery)
4. 18650 Green Sony Cell 2 (from used laptop battery)
And 3 chargers:
1. xTar MP1s of ebay for 9$
2. Noname 18650 charger of ebay for 4$
3. Cottonpickers Nona 9 stage
Methodology was as follows:
1.Charge till the chargers indicator go off
2.Voltage check after about 12 hours (using nona's voltmeter)
3.Discharge batteries below 3.9 v. (i didnt discharge fully to save some time)
4.After few hours rest, on to the next charger
And these are the results:
1.14500 Trustfire, black with flames(new cell )
XTAR MP1S - 4.21v.
Nona 9 Stage Charger - 4.15v.
Noname 18650 Charger - not aplicable
2. 18650 Blue Ultrafire (Few cycles on it)
XTAR MP1S - 4.17v.
Nona 9 Stage Charger - 4.13v.
Noname 18650 Charger - 4.15v.
3. 18650 Green Sony Cell (from used laptop battery)
XTAR MP1S - 4.2v.
Nona 9 Stage Charger - 4.14v.
Noname 18650 Charger - 4.15v.
4. 18650 Green Sony Cell 2 (from used laptop battery)
XTAR MP1S - 4.2v.
Nona 9 Stage Charger - 4.14v.
Noname 18650 Charger - 4.15v.
Nona charger is consistently worse than the other two, what could be the culprit?
Is your XTAR overcharging them? Both my Nona and my 2 Soshine chargers charge batteries to about 4.14 or 4.15. I'm no expert though.
Couple of thoughts...
Likely everything is fine....
Older cells will charge to 4.2 but will drop overnight or even after a few mins.
Have you checked the voltage right after charging them? (or even while charging) Be interested what the xtar is charging to. I suspect you'd see higher voltage than the nona which will show 4.2 or 4.21 max during charging
The nona will use cc/cv and stop when current is 10% of the setting. So will stop when current into the cell is about 75ma on the top setting. This is high for a 14500
I see the xtar may not follow cc/cv ; uses 450ma and charges quite high voltage.
You could set the nona to say 500ma which will be slower like the xtar but will terminate later and give a direct comparison.
Neilp: sorry for missing your post. I can do the Quad for 34 gbp

Ok that makes sense. Very few cells will rest at 4.2v 12 hours after being charged unless charged higher than 4.2v. Charging to 4.25v will result in a slightly higher final charge, but for longevity its recommended to charge to 4.2v using cc/cv methodology. Charging to 4.25v using the xtar will increasingly reduce the cells capacity. Personally I would not strive to get to 4.2v after 12 hours as this can only be achieved by high charging voltages. You'll gain in the short term, but at the expense of cell life.If you want to maximise capacity whilst reducing damage to the cell I'd suggest good quality cells and 0.6c charging rates.

I was mostly concerned about the new Trustfire 14500 cell holding only 4.15v charge after being charged with the nona and 4.21 with xtar, is this normal?
Speaking of chargers that do not follow cc/cv, which would be better in your oppinion, one that charges to 4.25v and no trickle or one that charges to 4.2 and trickle afterwards?
I think it looks a little low for the nona. I would expect 4.18v but its not unusually far out. Not something that I would worry about. I would not suggest charging to 4.25 to get it to hold 4.2 after 12hours. this article compares charge rates without talking about safety.. http://www.powerstream.com/lithuim-i...ge-voltage.htm personally I'd prefer 4.25 with cut off than 4.2v and trickle. but ideally 4.2v without trickle.

Ok then and thanks for the enlightment, i was planing anyway to get some higher quality cells, so ill see how it fares with them.
Now lets get bit creative.
I have a cool idea for a charger holder combo and i think you will like it.
Basicly your chargers would become modular, you could use it just with the cradle, just with the leads unplugged from the cradle or both for charging paired cells, but it would require small modification on the chargers side.
For the cradle you could get some of the cheap chargers and see if its easy to modify them, xtar's case seems solid to me, or ideally you could print your own.
Heres my paint masterpiece
And now we have a bit**in cradled charger with voltage readout.Me gusta.
P.S.
I didnt draw all the wires that go to each connector, as im sure you will figure that out without me.

DejaVu. I like the photoshop ;-) sure thats not real :-) I think you've got some good ideas there. I like the idea of 'plugging' a cradle into my charger. Maybe not quite what you have but I think I could do a 'pluggable' cradle onto the nona - just using the existing jst socket. It may need to wait a little while while I juggle priorities. but I think its doable and could be fun.
alex21: currently I'm making some gitd 'shells' before I switch over material back to white again (I have a two head printer so have to do 'batch runs' of colours!)
NeilP: Yes, to order, you just send me paypal using the address in the first post in this thread, and in the comments section let me know what you want. Optionally, you can post here which is a good way for all to see how long its taking me to take and make up orders. - keeps me honest! but its not strictly needed. I use the details in paypal when I make up orders - thats my 'official' priority list.
bobast: I can do a single current with display and upgraded charger to the UK for £20 - saves a little on your paypal fees and I knock off a little.
