    Hi gunga,

Thanks and we are working hard now.

My 1st impression or improvment should be the low-low output.
I had try to test my sample for low-level runtime but finally I quit..
I spent 5 days to take readings...nothing change except "Timer's readings"

And now send to our engineer to do the rest of such an interesting job..

Nice. Looks closest to the stock D-Mini VX XP-G, with maybe a touch more flood. Should be a great beam profile for EDC use. Also looks like you're driving the XP-G to peak output - love it!

Thanks for the beamshots - looking forward to the release

    Hello Ricky,

thanks for the interesting pictures, but why have you excluded the TRUST Model-1 from your comparison?
I would really like to see the beam differnces between Model-1 and 2.

Buttrock Mod: for move to Flashlight reviews? [TRUST series] Model 2 review

I received my Trust 2 today....As always from Lumapower(this is my 5th LP product), a well made and thought-out light. Fairly deep HA finish and knurling on the front and rear sections of the light, which gives ample purchase on the light when you are gripping it. It is really a nice size for me- I dont have overly large hands(medium/large), and this fits in my palm quite well.

What I really like about this is the UI- It allows you to lock it at one level, once you scroll up and down through levels via a half press on the tailswitch; full click locks in that setting. You can tighten the head of this light for a turbo mode, in addition to the low-med-high modes in that order. I can also appreciate that there are no strobe or SOS modes- just 4 lighting modes. I used both AW 16340's and 18650's, and both work well, with 16340's offering quite a bit more output.

The illumination with this unit is pretty awesome.... with a fairly deeply recessed OP reflector, it appears to have a brighter hot spot and a bit better spill at approx 4 meters on my wall than my VX Ultra (although I'll have to confirm that outdoors with some beamshots). And yes, I know the VX is more flood than throw -I'll borrow my g/f's Incendio V3 R5 for some comparisons shots. The lighting modes are pretty well spaced, with a pretty nice Low mode up to a "Oh my God thats bright" turbo mode, with medium and high rounding out the output options pretty admirably! I had this light cranked up for a few minutes, and it was warm, but, not as warm as my VX ultra on high. Then again, this is not an SST-50 emitter (a 'la VX Ultra), and is a better "thrower" than my VX, and, although its not as bright, its darned close with 16340's.

Also, some other nice touches are the tactical ring that is removable(along with the pocket clip) along with the ability to tailstand, with the Lumapower trademark GITD ring in the head of the light and the tailswitch. Plus, the fact that the light can handle up to 12V is a nice plus, as it allows more flexibility with different Li-ions (as well as the ability to upgrade or mod at some juncture).

Along with the light, I received a small ziplock bag with a regular black tailswitch and some extra O-rings. All that being said, I'm very impressed with this new addition to Lumapowers line! I think this light will accompany me this weekend when I'm out on a hike in the Berkshires- for the size, functions and user friendly UI, this may be my best all around light in my collection right now.

Beamshots and some comparisons with some of my other 1X18650 lights to follow.

As promised, here are some rather rudimentary beamshots- here's what I have for equipment and settings:
Casio Exilim EZ-Z33- 3:2 ratio, ISO sensitivity Auto, Auto WB,0.3 EV.

    The lights used are:
    Lumapower Trust 2 R5
    Lumapower VX Ultra SST-50
    Lumapower MRV Q5
    Shiningbeam X Thrower SST-50

All lights are using freshly charged AW 18650's- Pics were taken at 15'. Again, I'm sorry I don't have a better venue to aim these beamshots at. I will look for a better target in the future- I just wanted to give some idea as to what this light has to offer, especially against its higher output SST-50 counterparts. I also threw in an "old school" MRV, just to have a single cell 18650 "thrower" in this comparison.

Lumapower Trust 2 V. X Thrower: LOW MODE

Lumapower trust 2 V. X Thrower: MEDIUM MODE

Lumapower Trust 2 V. X Thrower: HIGH MODE

Lumapower Trust 2 V. X Thrower: TURBO MODE (Trust 2)- HIGH MODE (X Thrower)

Lumapower Trust 2 V. Lumapower VX Ultra: TURBO MODE (Trust 2) HIGH MODE (VX Ultra)

Lumapower MRV Q5 V. Lumapower Trust 2: HIGH MODE (MRV) TURBO MODE (Trust 2)

As you can see from the above pics, the Trust 2 does a pretty admirable job of "keeping pace" with the SST-50 lights, and has a fairly even spaced set of lighting modes. All in all, VERY good for an EDC light that has an R5 emitter!! I do apologize that the SST's are probably NOT the best lights to compare this product to, but, they are the only single cell 18650 lights I have at the moment, other than a SSC P7. So, for a better look at the beam profile, I took some pics with an Incendio warm tint R2 which are below, so hopefully the modes and beam patterns are easier to discern. Both lights are using AW 16340's.

Trust 2 V. Incendio warm: LOW MODE

Trust 2 V. Incendio warm: MEDIUM MODE

Trust 2 V. Incendio warm: HIGH MODE

Trust 2 V. Incendio warm: TURBO MODE (Trust 2) HIGH MODE (Incendio)

Accuracy- I would like to comply with your request, but, theres one small problem...I don't own a Model 1. I pretty much own everything Ricky sells, other than that! LOL! The best I can do is to get some comparison shots with an R5 Incendio- I'll have to wait to see my g/f to borrow hers. She just got a GT Force kit, so, it runs off a 18650 and has a spot lens as well.

I just got one of these in a few days ago from Illumination Gear. It was supposed to be a Christmas present, but my wife gave it to me early

    Anyway - it's a great little light.

In my opinion, this Lumapower Trust 2 compares fairly well to the Eagletac P20C2 MK II. It's about the same size with a similar sized reflector. The Trust 2 is also about $10-$12 cheaper as well. And, it claims to have a little longer battery life on max.

When comparing the Eagletac to the Trust 2 (using two primaries) in my rear alley, the P20C2 MK II seems to throw just a tiny, tiny bit further than the Trust 2. But, for a $50-something dollar flashlight, the Trust 2 is really awesome.

It's also the only light I have that I have kept the factory clip on. Normally I carry a light with a small lanyard, and I throw it into my pocket loose. This clip is really nice, and I'm clipping the light onto the edge of the pocket, so it doesn't roll around in the pocket.

I normally take a light with me to work everyday. But since I wear dress slacks, I take it out of my pocket and put it on my desk when at the office. I then take it back home with me at the end of the day. (when I am at home, I wear cargo pants, so its not an issue to keep a light in 1 pocket)

I've been messing with it the past few days and at work today...

The clip on this thing is very nice - and when clipped to the edge of my pocket (near the seam), it fits nicely and doesn't make a huge bulge.

I think this thing will be my new EDC light.

And, the price is not bad at all - at just over $50. I think this is a really nice light to make as a gift too - to give someone a good light, but without breaking the bank.

Just ordered a Trust based on the info in this thread. Because of the quality of the D-mini VX Ultra I got recently. I know I'm going to love it. Should make a nice EDC.

I read that this flashlight operates from 2.4V to 8.4V. Will it turn off or flash a warning when it gets down to 2.4V input?

I was thinking about running a A123 lifepo4 3.3V 1100mah, rated at 30C constant discharge, for safety reasons. It should also keep the voltage above 3V for most of the cell capacity. My other option is a protected lithium 18650 3.6 or 3.7v cell.

ricky can you please quote a out the front estimate of lumens for the trust 2?
do you have any other figures other than the emitter lumens..
has the light been tested in a light sphere or any other device that records the torch lumens?
emitter lumens are hard to get a idea of whats coming out the front for potential buyers...thanks,hope for a answer.

    jax

a fairly standard rule of thumb with LED/emitter lumen vs OTF is 20% +/- (incandescent bulb is usually over 30% loss)
EX: 450 LED/emitter lumens usually translates to about 360 OTF

But, let's see if Ricky agrees...

    Hi Jax,

Tod's reference is so close to our test.
We measure the flashlight with integration sphere and records 70% OTF refer to emitter lumens.
