When will we have an E01 style 4Sevens light?

i've got AAA lights with a raised plus pole on the PCB of the driver. and this isnt even needed because there are no PCB parts (IC's) on the side of the battery.

the preon po has IC's on the side of the battery but no raised plus pole on the PCB.

strange design.

The P0 needs some tweaking, and in my mind is not an E01 killer simply due to the fact the electronics are not potted.

Fix the battery issues and pot the electronics and it's damn close. A little knurling would help too.

When they fix the eneloop issue I'll buy more than 1 PO, but not until they work reliably with my favourite AAA battery.

I don't recalled E01 having battery issues.

Is alive and well on one of David's Idea shelves . . . or is it a library

He's gotta do something with all the idea's and prototypes that don't
make it into production and sold. I'd like a museum tour some day.

I'm starting to wonder if the New Preon P0 is the flashlight killer???
Maybe there is a new Preon P0 AA in the works ???

These two lights compete in quite a different categories. A closer competition would be Fenix E05.

David said that E01 killer project was cancelled, but many ideas were used in Preon P0. For me this Preon P0 is a bit of a mystery model. I am sure you remember the flashlight model with two beams that was cancelled, because another manufacturer stole the design and technique? The cancelling reasons were, that the innovative 4Sevens image could be hurt, if some people thought that it was perhaps 4Sevens that imitated another manufacturer. Well, not long after that, 4Sevens announced P0, which is almost identical to another light that had already been in the market for a long time.

This flashlight industry surely seems to be like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.

It is definitely something I would call "old reliable".

The E01 will never die because even though the P0 and other similarly sized lights offer smaller size or brightness or better tint i can still take my "dead" batteries out of a P0 or DQG and stick them in my e01 for hours and hours.

Doubt FourSevens will do it. But like Beacon of Light said, "the Fenix E-01 is still in a class by itself" and it "will not be defeated".

Man, I have a craving for chocolate macadamia nuts all of a sudden.

Anyway, regarding this topic, I still have yet to buy a flashlight that fits within E01/P0 range. I'm torn between both lights for different reasons, but I can't justify buying both (since I'd plan to use only one).
