I am going to have to go with 'The darker, the better'

I live in Portland, so I have plenty of breweries nearby to check out. This time of year is nuts because all the winter beers come out.

I have a weakness for red as well. The keg in the cooler right now is Ninkasi's Dawn of the Red. Good beer and very drinkable.

It varies so much! Sometimes dark beers are absolutely the best, can't say no to ice cold Newcastle ever. But then again a nice keg of Augustiner is rather amazing aswell!

    .. Okey 2nd post done!

Firestone Walker brewery is right by me. They have an awesome barley wine called Sucaba.

Fun fact: If you look at Trader Joe's for the Mission St. beer brand, you'll note on the back of the bottle that it's from "Steinhaus Brewing Company" - there is no Steinhaus brewing company, the beer is brewed at Firestone Walker, it's their discount brand. Definitely as good as $6-a-sixer beer gets..

I hope you don't mind fresh Pizza with your brew.

Say, that is some operation you have going. You are set up quite nicely, I would say.

Cooper and Sons Real Ale, Carlsberg, Newcastle Brown Ale, in no particular order.

We have several great local breweries out here in the Baltimore area, some of which have received some national attention. Dogfish Head's IPAs are all great--my favorite is the 60 Minute. Heavy Seas also has an extremely strong top-to-bottom lineup anchored by their Loose Cannon IPA.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but BeerAdvocate.com is a great resource for beer snobs.

Dogfish head 120 minute IPA... Something like 14-18%ABV and only brewed twice a year and in very small batches... Apparently it ages well, but I don't have the patience. It's way too delicious even fresh.

One of the best beer brands in Russia is definitely Zhigulyovskoye.
