    Default Your favorite beers?

Yep, the title pretty much sums it up.

In the 'spirit' of the following threads here in this CPF/MP subforum:
    Good Rum Recommendations
    Scotch Recommendations
    Top 10 everyday cigars.

But, let's have a little more fun with this one.

    A. One point if you can name your favorite beer.
    B. One additional point if you are currently enjoying a pint (any kind) while posting here (we're on the honor system here ).
    C. One bonus point if (A) and (B) are the same beer.
    D. One bonus point if your favorite beer is only available "on tap", or if it is homebrewed.
(Edit: Two bonus points if it's your tap - e.g. the 'weklund rule')

    I'll start.

Favorite beer: McMenamins 'Hammerhead Ale'. One point.
Currently drinking a beer (Guinness Stout). One point.

One bonus point (can't buy 'Hammerhead' in stores).
    --------------------
    Total: three points.

OK, I scored pretty high (three out of a maximum of four possible points).
It's my thread, I wrote the rules.

How about you folks? What beers do you like?

    Fav Beer: Crown Ambassador

Bonus Point: Only 6000 bottles are made each year. They sell out very quickly and all that remain cost a small fortune.

Extra bonus point that I'll give myself just because I felt like it: I managed to purchase and drink three of the 2009 vintage bottles last year!

    Total Points: 2 (3!)

    1 point for me...

It's a little early to have a beer... (7:30 in the morning...)

The best one so far: Pilsner Urquel, a Czech beer

    http://www.pilsnerurquell.com/in

I don't know if it's available in tap. It's a rather light beer with some similarity with Heinekein but with a more complex flavour. An excellent summer beer.

Coming up with a favorite is hard for me, I just really enjoy all kinds of beers. My favorite is probably Sam Adams Boston Lager (not one of the seasonals, even those are pretty good too). I'm not going to pretend I like to drink fancy beers only. They're good, but I usually drink what I can get a hold of.

I'm at work so just 1 point for me.

Ok. I love this topic. My Favorite Beer happens to be named after my favorite fish .... "Bass Ale" I love it so much it flows freely from a hole in my counter top in the back yard. I would gladly toss one back for the team and the extra point but it is a little early and I have an appointment. I am guest speaking at a local AA meeting at noon.

    Time to total the points:

1 point for knowing what beer I like.
1 point for speaking at the AA meeting and waiting until after the meeting to start drinking.
1 point for building my own watering hole.

That's 3 points. I am tied for first .... That calls for a drink.

    LOL, now that's the spirit!

In the spirit of rule (C) (C. One bonus point if (A) and (B) are the same beer.), give yourself another bonus point since you have your favorite beer on your own tap.

Rule change in honor of weklund

Thank you so much. This is a first for me. Having a point named in my honor was on my "Bucket List". Thank you Kestrel for helping me realise one of my dreams and another box checked off of on my list. By the way what do we "Win"? I want a puppy.

    Fun thread you started here.

I like several different beers, my favorite overall, the one I drink the most (almost daily ) is Miller Lite, simple yes, but I love it. On occasion I like to have a Boston Lager or my 2nd favorite beer Carolina Blonde, one of the best beers Ive ever had, hands down! If you're ever in the Carolina's and see this beer, try it! You wont be sorry! Oh and just one point for today.

+1 for Miller Lite on draft. That is what keeps my "Bass" company on tap. Great utility beer ie. "Bloody Beer" and general chugging. Tastes great out of the keg.

Can you guys really stick to one favorite, or your favorite "as of late"?!

I've always been a fan of Samuel Adams and ALL of their seasonal brews. I think I drank at least a couple dozen "Noble Pils" this spring.

Aside from that, Goose Island is a local Chicago beer that rivals Sam Adams IMHO in taste and variety. If you're ever in Chicago, try the "312", a crisp citrus charged wheat ale.

+1 for Fat Tire, great beer.

I'd have to give some honorable mentions to the following as well...

    Hacker pschorr
Zyweic (strong polish beer pronounced "shiv - its")
    Smithwick's
    Guinness extra stout
    Sapparo (Japanese beer)

If you have too many of the above, the rest is going to start to taste like swill, so beware!

Below is a list of the top selling beers in 116 countries, if anyone wants to try to have them all

Unfortunately, we have Budwieser represtenting the USA. Sorry to all you bud fans out there, but I just can't stand the stuff.

Stone Brewery Arrogant Bastard is always a good one to me.

I am sad to say this bottle wasn't full now, nor when I took the picture. I just really like their logo and hang onto a bottle of it.

Recently, I have been trying a few more IPAs. Starting to grow the taste for those now.

Not drinking anything at the moment, but I'd have to choose from these three:

    Franziskaner
    Hoegaarden
    Old Speckled Hen

The first two are wheat beers and the third is an English Ale.

I'm not sure I'm smart enough to pick ONE out of my favorites...

Flying Fish 'Hop Fish' India Pale Ale [let it breathe for at least 10 minutes]
Bemish Irish Stout [great for drinking while physically active]
Sam Smith's [lager, nut brown ale, or most other varieties]
Yuengling Black & Tan [and other Yuengling's]

    Some very interesting selections here.

Mine by comparison seem quite boring, when ordering a beer it would either be Estrella Galicia (no need to pretend you've heard of it ) or Budweiser. However, that's more based on what's available in either of the 2 bars I've been a regular at rather than a favorite as such. Take them away, stick me in a different bar in a different part of Spain, and I could probably give a different "favorite" within a week or so.

    As for points....

Well, I'll give myself one point for A.
I'll give myself one point spread between B and C, I'm not drinking one right now, but I did just come in from having 4, so that surely gets me something?
    No points for D.

    So, 2 points I suppose.

On an unrelated note, Weklund, unlikely, but I have to ask, any chance I could come and live in your back yard?
I won't get in the way (won't even leave the back yard) and I can provide my own tent.

This is a fun thread, I never new there was so many beers/largers.

My fav is Peroni from Italy, even better chilled with a nice pasta meal (spag bol made the wife !)

Now for the points, er one point for me, I'm drinking a pint of water as it's so hot here today.
Yes it can be found on tap in really posh pubs, but normally it comes in nice green bottles.

Cheers everyone, or as some say round here, Bottoms up!

Oh man, I've been through so many beer phases in my life. From high-school shenanigans to fraternity life for 5 years, to getting a post-grad career and toning it down a bit, to where I am today. I'm so glad I ran across this thread. With disregard to the points system (seems cool just didn't pay attention to grade myself), I've gotta honestly say that my all-time favorite beer is Labatt Blue.

Has nothing to do with any national pride (I'm American though my mother was born in Toronto). Just for some reason, whenever I crack open an ice cold Labatt Blue, I think "man, this is exactly how a beer should taste". Hit's the spot every single time.

    Honorable mentions include:
    Becks
    Amstel Light
    Leinenkugel Honey Weiss
Pabst Blue Ribbon (though the hangovers are terrible - yuck)

And for a utility beer I agree with several others above that Miller Lite is hard to beat.

I seem to only drink beer during the warmer months now.

My all-time favorite would be Moosehead Premium Dry, which is only available in the Maritime provinces of Canada.
I can only obtain that when someone is coming back from a trip down there.

    Other favorites:
    Keith's
    Coors Lite
    Molson Canadian
    Rickard's Red
    Carling Black Label
    Bitburger
    Guinness
    Holsten Premium

    Just one point for me.

FYI, last night, in celebration of Canada Day, I had a Rickard's Dark which is a porter brewed with a hint of maple syrup.

Anybody tried the Bourbon Barrel Porter from Oregon Trail Brewery? Aged in oak bourbon barrels. Limited production and spendy, ~$12-13 for a 20 oz bottle. Definitely worth it, especially if shared with a buddy.

+1 for The Blue. This is my second most favorite beer in my world. If the world supply of "Bass" had been extinguished and I had to be stuck on the Island of The Giant Big Breasted Skinny Women for the rest of my life and could only have one brew, Labatt Blue would be in the fridge.
