Are all of the current run 2 cell drop-ins driven at 1Amp max?

Yes, all the current 2 cell drop ins are rated at one amp. We tried 1.4 early on and found the thermal conductivity of the module, head, heatsink meant wasting 0.4 amps.

I did wonder about that, and can't seem to find the time to read this entire thread...LOL.

Speaking of that, do you have a price set for the E2S head?

LOL. Yeah I know right... Ridiculously long and some of the links are broken.
Anyway, BigC did some measuring on lumen and amps and we came to the conclusion that anything above one amp is being wasted as heat after a couple of minutes.

Price of the E2S is set at $80. Hoping to start rolling with that by the end of next week.

Just needed to post a big WOW for your drop-ins. I just got a two cell from Lighthound and a one cell from Illumination Supply and I amm truly impressed with the wormanship. These drop-ins are a must-have for someone who loves the original E-series heads, like me. Very floody! I am eagerly anticipating your complete heads!

Any possibility of getting one of the E2S's disassembled? I cerakote all my lights... Thanks!

Yeah I'm on the fence too. Single mode is holding me back......lemme let it simmer a bit

I personally prefer the round body for the head.
Check this if you are interested in the multi modes.

I have the 3-mode hcri head installed in E1E. However, sometimes when I switch the light on, I notice the output transitions from med to lowest mode. Though this does not happen frequently, I notice it happens once or twice in, say, 10 clicks of the light (spread over time). Anyone else has this issue? I have an aluminium tape installed, instead of Cu, can this be related? Overall, I am happy with the output and the drop-in, so no qualms there.

    Hi Choombak,
Does the transition happen when the switch "clicks"?
If so, what could be happening is a bit of switch bouncing causing the light to switch modes.
See if the behavior happens with other switches.

Yes, precisely. Hmmm...switch bounce possible considering the module has .5 sec mode memory. Thanks Steve for setting my thoughts straight. :-)

Why is the memory longer on the 2 cell dropin compared to the 1 cell dropin?
Just curious because I'm extremely happy with both 3 mode dropins I got for an E2e and an E1e.

The new replacement heads look great also! Although tempted, I really like being able to keep my Surefires looking as close to stock as possible. It's great that you provide a choice, and I wish Veleno Designs continued success.

I still run the incan heads with incan bulbs. But a quick 500 lumen blast is the better for mutts of the 2 legged kind.

The 2 cell is an off the shelf package with the controlling MCU preprogrammed for 2 second memory.
The 1 cell is a custom designed driver with 0.5 sec as one of the specifications.

    Steve,

I finally snagged one 1-cell module from Lighthound on 28th of Jan (still waiting to be delivered, APO address so it takes longer)...

1.8-5.5V 800ma... it's obviously boost driver for 3V primaries... what kind of regulation is used for Li-Ion battery ??? Is it some kind of linear current regulation or maybe even buck (like GD1000 used to be) for Vin of >3.4V ???

It only now came to me... I can't remember for the best/worst of me if I ordered the right drop-in... I have newer style bezels but realized that I might have ordered slug for tear-drop bezel... In case I made a mistake, is it possible to sand/add copper to tear-drop version to fit newer style bezel ??? I can't check Lighthound on available network but tonight will try to figure out which version I ordered... Even better if you tell me that latest delivery for Lighthound didn't have any tear-drop modules... :-)

EDIT: Just checked Lighthound and they only have 4 different versions, 1/3 mode, neutral/cool combos so I'm guessing they are all the same and fit normally in new style bezels...

The 1 cell from light hound is a buck/boost driver. Similar to the GD in charactoristic except for the addition of a MCU for PWM.

You should be okay for the teardrop/new style thing. They ordered 2 cells teardrops with their last order.
FYI, teardrops will fit the new heads, just with significantly less contact surface and thermal mass.

    Steve,

I received a 2 mode, 2-cell Hi CRI module from Illumination Supply. The tint on this drop-in is excellent, probably the closest I've found to an incan. Can these be run from 2 RCRs, as well as two primaries, or does it max out at 6 volts?

This makes the E2E into a much better camping/hiking light. Any idea on the rutimes on the high and low levels on these on a pair of primaries?

Any chance on building a module with a driver which will do a really low (.5 - 2.0 lumens) low?

BTW, while it runs fine in an E2D and and E2E lego, it does not work in what I believe to be an older light, marked "E2e" with a two 'flats' body tube and twisty switch (not a teardrop). I presume it is a contact problem due to the dimensions of the earlier lights. Swapping the tail switches did not work either. Not a complaint, just and FYI.

Really like the new E-heads with the optic, I'll have to pick one of those up, again with the Hi CRI XP-G.

    Thanks!

No, they cannot run on 2xrcr.
Way back when I started this mod a few people have done so and poofed something or other.

Runtime on high should be 1 hours+, low mode is 10x that.

0.5 to 2.0 is not really feasible as I have to deal with a MOQ for designing and making a run of drivers.

Did you try stuffing Al foil for the 2 flat body?
