Good news and bad news.
We apologize for the 18650 bodies that are delayed. We caught some issues, one of which is the o-ring material. We will need to ask those who already received the 18650 bodies (very small number) to send it back and we'll ship you the new ones (this time with battery caps).
The new bodies will have o-rings with better material. Also, the spring in the head will be removed. This affects the reversability of the 18650 body. The tail threads are annodized as well. So the 18650 bodies can only be used "bezel-down." The clip can still be removed if desired.
If this not acceptable, we can issue a refund for those who ordered the bodies. Please contact customerservice@4sevens.com.
They should arrive at our warehouse state-side and will ship early next week.

Thanks for the info. Is this o-ring problem only for the 18650 bodies or does it affect other products as well?
David,
Does this mean that you are addressing the issue that I sent via email last week, as well? 1) The fact that neither of aluminum tactical tail caps (from original Quarks) that I have will fit neither of the 2 18650 bodies that I have on the anodized end and 2) that the o-ring on the internal threaded part was crushed and in 2 pieces when I first unscrewed to put the battery in.
The reversability doesn't bother me as the 1st thing I remove from all lights is the clip...
However the not being able to use a "normal" tactical tail cap does affect me, the configuration I am most interested in is a 2^123 head <-> 18650 body <-> tactical tail cap (the one that's on the original - so that the diameters all match)
If you tell me that by removing the anodizing, that the tail caps will fit, I will take wire brush in-hand... You can just send me new o-rings for the ones that need replacing. Oh yeah, and 4 end caps for the 2 bodies![]()

whew.. dodged a bullet here. i decided to wait and see about these..
(just as i did end up buying the 2cr123 body prior the announcement to get the single cell li-ion long runtime.i could live without the 18650 for some time)
glad to hear you are getting things sorted.
now i wait again.
will see if i end up getting one anyways. i just like to keep my most used lights running on same cell types for easy changing batteries form one to other.
*so how many mm long is the quark with 18650 body?*
edit: and i do carry my lights bezel down anyways.
So this also means that your new stock will be in greater numbers right?
Those with the bodies already, those reversible ones might become a rarity!

Will this re-design affect "useability" of AW's 18650-2600 "flat-top" batteries ?
_
With the 18650 just in (took about a week and a half to get it shipped here), i'll see how useful it is 'as is', but i like it this way. The springs don't bother me, my Li-ions are plastified on the top, and it seems to work OK. The end-caps would be nice though![]()
I just got the email to return my (2) 18650 tubes. I don't think I quite understand why I would or wouldn't want to do that. So far I have only used the tubes with my Turbo Quarks and they work fine. I may at some point get a regular Quark when/if the XP-G version comes out and use the tube with that.
Class? Anyone? Anyone?

I dunno - I went ahead and sent mine back. The springs on both ends, although they worked fine, kinda put me off. Also, not having caps was a disappointment - the 'extra' tube is a great battery holder. Using it 'bezel down' or 'up' makes no difference to me - I'll probably take the clip off anyway, so all in all it made sense to me to send it back for the 'updated' version...
are these in yet?

to David / 4Sevens -
Glad they've arrived.
Will this re-design affect "useability" of AW's 18650-2600 "flat-top" batteries ?
Thank you.
Flat-tops will work fine. The spring in the head was replaced with a smaller one. This body is non-reversable. But the clip can be removed if desired. The tail threads may need to be worked in a little but they seem to be fine.
These bodies were such a pain to manufacture. If it weren't for you CPF'ers it wouldn't have happened
The biggest challenge is to not increase the body diameter - it turned out quite nice.
It's SO within spec. Mine's on the way...
