4Sevens Quark 18650 body!

You light-loving fanatics have been asking for this and finally we worked it out and had a limited number made. This 18650 body will work with ALL Quarks! The clip is also removable and the body is reversible as well.

The design was an absolute challenge since the 18650 cell is not much smaller than the Q123-2 body. The only way to do it was to have the body unscrew into two pieces. The slot for the o-rings was too deep (smaller than the 18650 cell).

We had to make a design decision of whether to have the separating point a bulge in the body or put it behind or in front of the body. We chose the latter because it kept the nice simple lines of the quark. The downside is that it's a bit longer but that's OK, these quarks are quite compact anyway

Anyway, there is a limited number of these and depending how well they do we may or many not make another run. So if 18650's is a must have, grab one quick.

I have a prototype in hand but it's not photo-worthy and it's far from the final design. So I'll just show you the renderings. Don't worry the bodies have already been produced and they are on their way to me

Yes, they should (cr123a sized). Just make sure you have a head that supports 8.4v max.

No, only with Quarks. The MC-E's will already support 18650 and will be a completely different line.

1) Yes. Those heads take up to 4.2v - perfect for a single li-ion. The 3.0-8.4v heads will work too but will not stay in regulation too long. 2) none in titanium planned.

To clarify which Quark head this body is compatible, here is my understanding:

• 123, AA, AA^2 - specs on your site says 0.9V ~ 4.2V
• 123^2 - spec say 3.0V ~ 9.0V

Question:

1. Does that mean that this body will have a rather flat regulation with the 123, AA, AA^2 heads?
2. When using 18650 on the heads above, will the output be brighter?

CPF consensus seems to be AW 18650 as the best cell, and the Pila as the best charger, unless you want to go with a "hobby" charger. I'm about to do the same myself, and the above is what I came to. There're the usual comprehensive threads exploring these issues if you cruise around the site.

My drawer is littered with loose parts and batteries rolling around: putting up a couple headless lights with caps would be a killer. (Not to mention you should have those for sale as accessory...)

It depends - we'll have to try and report when they come in.

Yes they come with caps as well as clips These will be great watertight 18650 carriers with a clip to boot!

What is the total length of a Quark with 18650 Body?

I don't have the numbers handy at the moment. I think it was .5 in longer than the 2x123. I'll confirm later.
