When the new C's get here, I'll have all of the parts to answer your question. But my guess is that it will depend on the springs. The FM2C comes with a small/weak spring. Paired with another small/weak spring in the head (like a Malkoff), it will probably need a spacer. Paired with a long/stiff spring (like FMs incan modules), it will probably work straight away.

These new C's are standard C size. If your Mag is unmodified (or can be made so), the new cells ought to be plug-n-play!

LIGHTSMAD : Please refer to the special notes in post #1 :

    Special notes

    - These are flat top cells - cell to cell contract requires some pressure ( tail cap spring of a Mag will provide sufficient pressure ). DO NOT use a magnet in between cells to avoid ' shorts '.

    - Fitting in a Mag C is snug / airtight depending on the body version. Please check inside body tube diameter before purchase. You may need to sand the inside of the body tube of the Mag C to enable these cells to slide in/out freely.

    Hi AW,

I would like to order IMR-C, the dia. of battery is 26.2mm, but I've measured the inside dia. is 26.0~26.2mm from FM2C and 3C.

Is IMR-C possible to fit into FM C-cell Body?

    Thanks

If it is smaller than 26.2mm, the IMR26500 won't fit.

    Hi AW,
I want to order 6 IMR26500 -$15.00 each, but I was wondering if you have a dedicated charger for these? Nev

I assume not, so are folks just soldering alligator clips to their WF139 chargers and charging them that way.

    Thanks,
    bigchelis

EDIT: Nevermind I found them in this section.

I am going to use mine to run a bulb that can take 21V before flashing. If 5 IMR 26500 cells are able to give a voltage of 19-20 volts under a 10 amp load then I will get over 180 W of output with over 6000 bulb Lumen. For my application I don't need to add resistance or regulation.

I would say that any 2 cell application where the bulb/driver can handle over 8 volts would be no problem. It is only because exceeding 7.4V causes colour shift that you are having a problem, many other applications for these cells don't have this issue. Of course there is a strong likelihood that these cells will be blowing a few bulbs, that's why I have been checking this page: http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=179748

My batteries arrived today - I have charged them and given a quick test. With an Osram 64458 bulb from 5 x IMR 26500 cells (With AW Soft Starter ) I can get some crumpled newspaper to flame within a couple of seconds.

Thanks for the quick & efficient service AW - you are a flashaholics best buddy!

Received my IMR26500s a couple days ago. They are great! Safe, low resistanace and high current.

They fit some of my C Mags but not all. Interesting though all the C Mags that take the IMR26500 freely are the ones in pewter. None of my black and purple C Mags take the IMR26500 without sanding. I used a brake hone and it didn't take long to make the C Mags IMR26500 friendly. I love them, especially the bright orange wrapping.

I'd like to take some IMR18650 as well.

    for 6 x IMR18650 + registered shipping.

    Thanks again.
