Thanks for everyone’s quick response with PP info and your comments!!

The only person I have not been able to reach is rdh226, I left a VM message with the last know number I have but no name was given in the VM greeting so I can’t be certain it is rdh226.

With some help from John we have calculated the payments based on a percentage of your claim to the amount of the first settlement check. I wish it was more per person.

The check was deposited on March 2 with initial deposit credit of 1068.30 (check was Canadian funds). I called my bank yesterday to see if the check has cleared and they recommend I wait 10 business days after I explained the situation for the check to clear and also mentioned the amount was subject to change depending on the conversion rate of the day the check actually clears. I am not overly concerned about the check being good but if the check is rejected for any reason it would be a huge hit so I am going to be cautious and do what the bank recommends. Payments should be completely dispersed on March 16. I’m not sure if they will do it but I will request the Legal Department to disperse future payouts via PayPal to simplify the process and to eliminate risk.

Just for the record I have transferred the funds from my bank account to my PayPal account for transfer. As of now there has been no change in the amount of deposit. I have removed some numbers from the Unique Transaction ID #, I'm not sure if it is safe to post the all the numbers.

    You are welcome guys!!

All funds except for one payment of $34.52 have been sent.

I guess we will be doing this again in another year or whenever I get another check, I will send the Legal Department updated PayPal info so maybe they will be the ones sending the money next time. Enjoy your funds and buy something nice (Flashlights) lol.

Thanks a lot Steve!! The only thing I wish is ALL those who got betrayed by DS would be part of this so he got hit much harder (somehow I still feel the urge to send the russian mafia to send some greeting from CPF ).

Just curious: Whatīs to be expected from another check? I went through with all what was necessary for the legal department but didnīt follow the discussion too close since I just donīt have the english vocabulary for all those legal terms.

    Thanks again Steve!

I think the next check will be a little smaller; this payout represents $ 2500 dollars in payments so that would leave $ 2000.00 left in total to be divided if my memory is correct. Of course Doug has to make the payments for us to get paid but so far so good. If Doug defaults then he will be held liable for the total amount, this was agreed to in court.

Personally I would like to see him default because if he defaults then Chris would hound him for the rest of his life or in till he paid back the total amount. I can tell you from working with Chris all these years, she takes no prisoners. Chris has done a very good job for us given the circumstances and I am very grateful to her.

Thank you Steve. Was it worth the wait? Of course it was and, thanks to you, a small but significant money was repaid to me. Last time I will try to do business with Mr. Speck.
So, is it one more check we can, hopefully, expect and sometime next year or are there more checks? I'm not really clear on the payout to us.

We discussed a couple of options, I was under the impression anyway the Legal Department would take their share first then we would have an option of two payments or more if I would disperse the funds. We never agreed or really completed the discussion at least in my mind so in short I’m not sure if Chris will cut another check before Doug is completely paid out in full or not.

I am not comfortable handling the money so I would prefer Chris disburse the funds directly and would have opted for that if asked, it is time consuming and involves risk. Just to deposit the check I had to go to my bank when it was open and sign a three page document because the check is international, I think I might have signed away my first born but couldn’t really tell you because of the way the document is written. Of the 16 PayPal’s I sent out I have heard back from seven people so far, I’m left wondering if a mistake might have been made and if there was who is liable. To transfer funds from my bank account to PayPal takes time and to make the payments timely I have to transfer funds out of my account before the check technically clears. One banker told me I should wait six weeks for an international check to completely clear, I don’t think he knew what he was talking about but after signing a three page documents it is clear from what I could understand if something goes wrong anywhere I will be the one eating the funds in till any mistakes are cleared. Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining and am happy to help the group but it would be better if Chris handled the money even if it would take a little longer for payouts. Based on the letter I received, Chris is under the impression I agreed to handle the funds, looking back we should have spent more time discussing this but at the time who would have thought this would even work. My preference would be if I am to handle the funds that we wait in till Doug has paid in full and we do this one more time.

All so complicated and just for a few tiny flashlights!

So... "we WILL"...or "we MIGHT"...receive another check? Any idea of when will "will" receive another check IF that's the case?

    Thanks Steve,

We should receive at least one more check but as to when I’m not sure. Doug has to pay the Legal Department before we get paid. The payment we received is from $ 2500.00 Doug has already paid. The settlement was for $ 4500.00.

    Steve,
First off great job! Secondly I find it easier and faster to cash Canadian funded checks then deposit the cold hard cash into my bank account, this way there is no wait time, for next time hope this helps a bit.
    Best of luck,
    Steve H.

For the record I received a check today from the legal Department for $652.50 (Canadian Dollars).

This check represents payments of $100.00 a month Doug has made to the legal Department from March 14, 2011 to May 18, 2012. As per our agreement the Legal Department has deducted collection fees as well as 13% HST tax.

I should be able to deposit the check today and will disperse the funds after the check has cleared, keep in mind it will take a little time for the check to clear and I will be out of town for most of next week. I will send notifications to everyone who is on the master list requesting current PayPal email address, the master list is a list of people who fully complied with all submittals and were represented in court. If you received a payment last year then you will receive a payment this year.

If you have any questions please post in this thread or call The Legal Department at 705 471-6646. You can also contact me via mail at slebkuecher at yahoo com

Please refer to the following when contacting The Legal Department.

Thanks guy for your comments both here and in your emails!! I truly appreciate it and yes it has been a long road but in my view well worth the effort. If nothing else an example has been set that shows would be thieves and scammers that there is at least a chance that if you take money from a group without delivering the goods there could be consequences.

I transferred $601.29 (US) to my PayPal account tonight and will disperse the funds when the transfer is added to PP my account.

I received a check for $43.50 (Canadian) from the legal department and deposited the check on Friday. It will take some time for the check to clear but will disperse the funds to everyone when loaded into my PP account. This check was for a payment Doug made on June 15.
