I haven't seen anything posted on this in a while, so I thought I would ask if anyone knows when these holders for the Blaster VI would be ready to go. This is one of reasons I chose the VI over the V. The size factor was important as well.

I found a pic off of the ElektroLumens website. No sign that they are for sale though.

Last ETA given by Wayne was mid may.

Wayne,

Is Mid-May still a go?

Excellent! I am working on 5W mod right now that needs those 3-to-D battery holders to bring it to life! I bet you are going to sell a lot of those holders. I hope I don't end up at the end of the mad rush to buy them once you get them. Thanks for getting these holders made.

Wayne,
Can you give us any idea how much they will be? Also, are you going to sell them, or will you just have enough for back orders?
thanks,
Jason

T my knowledge, Wayne hasn't started taking orders on the 3AA>D holders and doesn't intend to until he has stock. My impression is that his factory order was large enough to provide him with significant inventory.

Maybe I'm optimistic, but I expect to be able to order for immediate shipment the dozen that I posted as soon as Wayne takes delivery.

I hope your right, I am just wondering if he has to ship too many for the blasterVI for us to get our 20. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I do hope Wayne's made more than enough, because on CPF, usually more than enough, really is never enough...

Am I correct in thinking you just plunk 3 AAs in each one and it goes in just like a D cell?

If so, I simply MUST have some!!!!

Will these fit the newer smaller diameter "D" Mags? I can't measure it - my calipers won't reach past the threads!

The batteries have to get past the threads. too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twak.gif

If the dimension of 33.26mm diameter on the 3-to-D are correct, they may not fit in this Mag I just bought. I wrapped a D cell with paper to simulate 33.26mm and it's a very tight fit. Maybe I got an oddball Mag?

In a word: bingo!

Imagine either a "parelleled" 1.5V 8400mah D (1.25V 6600mah D for NiMHs), or a "seriesed" 4.5V 2800mah D (3.6V 2200mah D for NiMHs)... And if you can imagine that AAs take only 100 minutes to charge (Maha C401FS) versus 12+ hours for 8Ah-9Ah Ds, it's much more attractive.

Imagine the possibilities...

<<<In a word: bingo! >>>

In that case, when they become available I shall have to have several!!!

I shall be watching for it!

I sure hope Wayne gets these soon! I just made my first 5W mod from a 2D Maglite. It is a pain in the rear to make a battery pack out of AA's and tape.

How much longer? Sorry.....I've got a bad case of impatience at the moment.

FalconFX

AAs and tape?

You can buy a 6AA holder from Wayne, and then slap a couple spacers on it at each ends to make yourself a battery pack...

And the spacers make a good place to hide a couple of paralleled 1 or 2 ohm resistors (like 1206 SMDs).

Wayne, hi
just wondering if you have had any news on when these will be available?

I'm supposed to get 20 samples of the 3-To-D battery holders from the factory next week. I'll post pictures when I get them. Full production will follow shortly. There has been several difficult hurdles to jump over getting these things done. These holders will open up a lot of possibilities for CPF modders.

Wayne, regarding the 20 samples, who are gonna get them first? is it first come first serve basis or they was made for reviewer? Also, the full production that you are talking about, are they consist of both paralel and series?

bucken

I'm sure that they will be worth the wait when the full production gets going! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Thank you for taking the initiative to get such a product to market! Meanwhile... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/popcorn.gif

That's a good question. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Should I go by the Elektro Lumens customer with the most products purchased, or by the most money spent? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif Maybe I should just use them in my own projects? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Wayne:

Did you get your 20 samples you expected "next week" as of 5/22?

If so, are you ready to roll with them?

Do you now have any idea when you'll have production volume?

Wayne, you said in another thread today that the 3 to D holders would be done by the end of the month, do you mean this month?
thanks

I saw that too. The sentence was ended with a question mark indicating (I think) that he's giving us the best info based on what his outsource is trying to do.

I know someone that had invented a product and a Canadian outsource held them up for ever on one component for 1 and 1/2 years. Not good but the final product was nice.

I'm having a little impatience with this but I suspect Wayne is staying with a reputable manufacturer so he can deliver the best to us. It's really antsy with me because the 5W Cyan he built for me came with two protos and they are the best design I've seen.

I have 2 + 5 preorders from back probably when you ordered yours and I want mine yesterday but I want them to be like these samples I was gifted with in the 5W Cyan paint removal gun.

I'm not sure if I'm trying to help you chill a little on this or I'm asking you to help me chill a little.

Icebreak,
You mentioned this "The sentence was ended with a question mark indicating (I think) that he's giving us the best info based on what his outsource is trying to do." What best info are you referring to?
I asked what month because he didn't say if it was supposed to be this month (July) or next month (August). Did my question sound like I needed to chill or did it sound like I was unreasonably trying to grill him for information? Actually , I was hoping Wayne would respond to this question himself since I thought my question was pretty simple. The funny thing is , people ask Wayne questions on his (Elektrolumens Forum) and since he doesn't usually respond to them, other people feel compelled to answer the questions for him. I've done the same thing and find it rather amusing.

When he says "end of July". Can't remember which thread but it was recent...oh wait...I see what you mean now. He didn't say "end of July". He said "end of the Month?" and I just took it to mean July.

Not a bit. Chill was probably not the best word and it's me that might need some chillin' because I would like to have these now.

Me too. Maybe because we are kind of an elite group of EL fans trying to help each other out.

BTW I finally voided the warrantee on my Blaster V by stuffing 6Cs in it. WOW! Now, that's a big bunch of light.
