I was wondering if someone had a very small portion of some thermal epoxy. I only need a small dab and won't have any need for a whole tube after I'm done with what I'm wanting to do. If you are that very generous person, I would be very much appreciative!

Thanks! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif

Changed to say that I will buy a small portion if someone is willing. I'd give $5 for someone to ship some to my house. Unless someone knows where I can find a very small tube of it.

Thanks!

Orion, I don't know how feasible this would be. I see lots of people "viewed" your post, but nobody replied....

The thing is, these usually come in some kind of container or tube.

I could send you a small amount, in two separate ziploc bags, but it would be messy and I don't know how much you could ultimately "scrape off" the inside of the bags....

Give this place a try and get the arctic alumina if you need good thermal epoxy (non-conductive), or get the arctic silver if you don't care about conductivity (if it's not an issue). Some of these have free first class shipping!

(And the prices are very good--below $5 in many cases for the amount you need)

5.0g is on sale for $6.45.

Thanks, Wayne. (I noticed I told him less than $5 based on the Arctic Alumina price, not the Arctic Alumina Adhesive price, which is the one he wants...)

JollyRoger,. . .. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

I have purchased the Artic Alumina for less that I would have given someone to send me some of theirs. Here's the thing, I was under the impression that the Artic Silver/Artic Alumina products were around $20 for a tube, and I didn't need that much. This site (and you) has made my day!!

Again, thanks!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I saw JollyRoger's post before I saw yours, dat2zip, however, I will add my thanks to you as well for the information. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think you would have paid more, if you had paid the $5.00 + shipping and then paid to have the tubes sent back.

Plus, shipping some in zip lock bags just doesn't seem that appealing.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I usually use http://www.bestbyte.net/Category.cfm?CategoryID=7&Keyword=
However, they are the same price as listed above.
They do periodically ship free via USPS on their adhesives/thermal compounds. They are usually cheaper, too.

please explain the difference between regular epoxy adhesive and thermal epoxy.

Most epoxies carry some heat (as any contact with any material will do), but are not expressly designed to do so.
Thermal epoxies are doped with ingredients that are thermally conductive. Most rate their thermal impedance too. Thus, you know what you are getting.

The best analogy I can come up with (which is thin and reversed) is removing a boiling pot of water from the stove. Using a potholder you can feel the heat (its supposed to be an insulator, but it still carries some heat). Then use tin foil. There will definitely be a heat transfer.

I can't remember the company or their web page, but one of the major manufacturers of thermal epoxy will send you a free sample that is very generous in quantity- I think they sent me about 8 ounces for no charge at all.

Do an extensive web search and you will find it, and it can all be done online.
