Just a little thing that irritates me - Why the heck do so many folks not put at least which COUNTRY they are living in on their Location section on the personal info / post # /sign up date area?? Is it laziness? Paranoia? Or do they just prefer the anonymity of the internet? Something else?
In most cases it's not a big deal, but even if somebody is asking a general question it could help to have an idea of where the person lives - getting access to lights or parts is probably much harder in Timbuktu than Tennessee for example, and the responses may be different.
But if you're buying or selling I believe you OWE it to the rest of the CPF'ers to post a location. I don't consider myself to be USA geocentric or anything, but let's face it - we generally want to deal where there is the least risk. And there is usually less risk (and expense...) when the package does not have to cross international borders.
Between lights and knives I HAVE shipped internationally about 12 times, and all have been without incident. But that has been to folks with established records. All things being equal, if two people with 10 posts wanted an item I was selling, I'd sell it to person from Lima, Ohio over the one from Lima, Peru....
And Yes, I could just PM them and ask where they are living. I do. But it takes up my time, their time, and bandwidth. And If I'm wondering where they're located, other people are too.
Any other viewpoints/thoughts?
