Hi Ricky,

Two quick questions:
1. Will this feature a multipower cirucit (i.e. support 18650, RCR, and CR123A?)
2. Will you be making just the light engine (i.e. emitter/ciruit/heatsink module) available as an upgrade to exisiting MRV holders?

Thanks!

Hi selfbuilt,

1. Yes, it ate all knids.

2. Still planning for upgrade package. Will make it announce as soon as we confirm the details.

Looks like a neat light. What led will it have in it?

lumapower
11-09-2007, 12:30 PM
Hi woodrow,

Still XR-E at the moment.

If you mean the Bin code, it should be Q2 or above.

The most important issue of MRV Digital is features added.

Such as Lighthouse mode and higher circuit efficiency.

No-flickering design of PWM with long runtime...

Photos will be add to this thread next week.

Hi Ricky,

the MRV Digital looks very nice.
I am still looking forward to a MRV with a Q5 emitter. I am very sad that I missed the first special edition that is currently out of stock @ batteryjunction.
Is there any chance to get a MRV with Q5 before christmas?

Thank you!
Best regards

Sounds very nice, just a few questions:

Is the 5 modes with memory
Do you switch mode with the clicky switch or by turning loosen the head like the old MRV?

lumapower

Hi Ferdi,

Sure, you can get it before X'mas.

Hi whc,

The UI make difference as before as :

Bezel twist for Hi and MCU.

1. High-out remains unchange and
2. Low-out replaced by MCU with tail-switch-Pluse to select from different modes.
- Similar as D-Mini Digital with Lighthouse mode add.

Thanks Ricky - Definately interested in an upgrade package - Any chance for an extension tube so we can use two 18650 Protected Mode batteries?

Hi MarkIAlbert,

You got it, we already have production order for the new extend-tube for MRV.

And the fastest schedule as before X'Mas.

Just asking...

Does the new Digital replace the MRV-SE, or will the MRV-SE continue to be offered?

I rather like the simplicity of the MRV-SE, and unless the MRV-Digital "fixes" some shortcoming of the MRV-SE, or if it adds significant output over the MRV-SE, then I think I might still like to get the MRV-SE.

Some answers:

MRV-Digitals are en route now I believe and MRV-Digital SE's with Q5's are shipping with them - so the new SE's will be the Digital model.

The MRV Digital replaces the original MRV. The MRV Digital allows simple operation (tactical switch direct to high) but if you turn the mid-body switch to what was the low setting on the original MRV you'll have the multiple modes become available - so it's the best of both worlds.

Matt,

Some questions:

If the MRV-SE now becomes the MRV-SE Digital, will it (the "SE" model) still produce the 250+ lumens as the original MRV-SE?

What the heck is the use for the "Lighthouse mode"?
While I can think of an occasional use for a Strobe mode or even an SOS mode, I don't know when a person would ever use a once-every-5-second-flash mode. That's too slow to be an "alert" light like a Strobe would be, and it's not as good for emergency as would be an SOS (or Strobe as well for that matter).
I would much rather the light engine just offer 4 brightness levels and leave the Lighthouse thingy out of it. (Others may not agree so don't listen to me. :naughty: )

Since these lights are on the way now, when are you going to allow pre-ordering to begin?

Thank you

There could be many uses including where in the heck is my light hiding in this bag.... You could also use it for a location marker, i.e. You need to return to a spot after dark, point your MRV at a tree, now you have a blinking tree. Pretty easy to find. You may never need it but hey its there if you do.

Yea, well you don't know how MY luck goes.

All that blinky thing will do is to allow someone ELSE to find my high-dollar MRV-SE so that THEY can walk away with a very nice light indeed.

Me?... I'll still be lost the next morning.

Personally, I'd rather trade in the 5-second blinky for a Strobe function if anything.

Yes, the SE Q5's will continue to be ~250L, pre-order begins as soon as I have tracking and have a chance to make a new listing. :)

The UI sounds like a winner to me. As does an 18650 extension tube. Forward Clickie!

Oh well, my flashlight allowance is spent for the year, I'll keep this in mind for a later date.

I'm waiting for the new shipment to arrive as well, so I've been keeping up on this... I think.

That Standard MRV Digital is the 210 lumen light.
The former MRV-SE is non-digital, but has been sold out for a while.
The MRV-SE that is coming in also uses the digital Epsilon engine, but it is supposed to output the same 250 lumens as the former MRV-SE. It is the replacement for the former MRV-SE.

From what I understand, and I could be wrong, the Standard MRV Epsilon 210 lumen light, AND the MRV-SE Epsilon 250 lumen light (the "SE" is the "Special Edition" part) are both in transit right now.

The MRV-Tactical 210 lumen light available right now at B.J. is not the Epsilon version of the light.

That's all I got.

MattK
11-26-2007, 04:12 PM
Correct Zenster! :)

MRV or MRV Digital is ~210+ Lumens and use a Q2.

SE MRV or SE MRV Digital is ~250 Lumens and use a Q5.

The SE's are sold out but Digital MRV SE's and regular Digital MRV are en route. We do have a few standard Q2 MRV's in stock still.

zenster..thanks..ricky from CS told me he does have some SE's in stock (not the new digital one)..he told me its the same one BJ sells for $149 that they are out of stock on..what do you think a non-digital SE 250L Q5 for $150 or a new digital one for $170..other than lighthouse mode i'm not sure why its better?...not sure i care all that much about lighthouse mode anyway

To be honest, and not to start anything, I personally find the "lighthouse" feature a bit worthless. I would much prefer a strobe instead of the lighthouse.

At the same time, the original MRV-SE is only a high/medium light while the new MRV-SE Epsilon offers a low, medium and high which is nice for the extra long runtime when used on low.
However, I have other lights that run on low for long runtimes so if there truly are some of the original MRV-SE's left (non-Epsilon), I'd take one in a heartbeat and not have to mess with the lighthouse thingy.

Matt, if you do get some original MRV-SE's in, I'm good for one. Just let me know and I'll put in the order. I'm surprised because I thought they were gone for good and replaced by the Epsilon version.
On the other hand, if the new Epsilon were to have had the low/medium/high settings and a Strobe feature (instead of lighthouse), I would have preferred to go with the Epsilon instead.

MattK

lightheart - we expect to offer the Digital MRV SE's for about the same $150 the previous version sold for.

Zenster - you've got a PM. :)

hey matt..when will you have new mrv-se digitals in stock?...by the way..what did you mean "zenster you've got a pm"...i'll buy from you if i can...ricky said he thinks new digital will ship nov 28th..not sure if he meant se or just mrv

lightheart
11-26-2007, 11:48 PM
hey matt & zenster..what about colors?...are the new mrv & mrv-se digitals both black with a green like chrome piece?..

MattK

The Digital MRV's, both Q2 and Q5 should be here in < 1 week. The new Digital models have the dark finished light engine and HAIII Black finish like this: http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?t=171178

Regarding the PM I was offering Zenster a demo/open box unit MRV SE that we have - if he declines and you're interested I'd be happy to contact you next; seemed to prefer the pre-Epsilon model and I saw a way to accomodate the request.

Lightheart, Matt offered a Demo original MRV-SE to me because I mentioned I would prefer the original, but I've decided that while I don't like the lighthouse feature, I do like the 3rd power setting that the Epsilon offers.

So contact Matt and jump on that Demo original MRV-SE. It puts out exactly as much light as the Epsilon MRV-SE lacking only a (much) lower light setting.

I'll probably regret passing on it. :sigh:
