Details of 2+2 switch for brightness control :

Control Central is the knurled band behind the Cree light engine and integrates with tailcap switch for 3 brightness levels. Twisting clockwise engages Hi level and counter clockwise sets Medium level. Tailcap switch turns on the light and first click is single level Lo at approx 3-4 lumens. 2nd click accesses Hi or Medium and is dependent on your last setting at Control Central. If last setting was Hi that's what you get and now a twist gets Medium. Same for last setting in Medium.

The head contains the Cree light engine with focusing bezel which provides twistable beam adjustment for spot and flood.

Yeah, but if you read the old thread... MattK posted this on the 6th...

Ricky and I have established a program for M3 spare emitters/bezels and it will be announced shortly - within 2 weeks at the outside.

Maybe they're waiting for the spare emitters/bezels to have upgraded emitters (one can hope, right?). I'm waiting to order the turboforce head from Matt until the spare emitters come out so I can order them together. Then I'll send in my tactical switch to get the upgraded replacement and I'll be all set for a light.

Also, don't forget about a pocket clip for this thing. It's screaming for a pocket/visor clip.

Any chance that there'll be a separate kit with just the spare emitter, for people who already have the Turbohead and therefore not require another bezel?

Sorry but no - the price difference was going to be minimal and it wasn't worth the difference to stock 3 different versions of the kit (a version incl a TH was also discussed.)

Any chance that Lumapower will make another type of emitter? Like SSC or Rebel?

No plans at this time that I know of...little advantage to making a change that I can think of.

Matt,
Any idea what bin of XRE is used in the M3? A Q5 single AA turbo head would be a great helmet light. :D

MattK

P4 in the original lights and Q2 in the 'extra' emitter package we offer IIRC.

MattK.

I received the M3 kit, just 3 days - very quick shipping, thanks. The New emitter fits well with the standard bezel that came with it and the standard bezel that came with the M3.

But the turbo head will not completly screw down on the new emitter, it has about 1/8 inch gap and the beam has a hole in it that I am guessing is because the LED is not completly entering the reflector.

I compared the two LED emitters side by side and they look the same. I can't figure what the trouble is.

I tried contact through the BatteryJunction customer service link but it seems you have to create an account just to ask for help. Any suggestions?

I tend to not do business on web sites that require you to log in and create accounts just to buy products or services. I have to many logons, combinations, PIN numbers, access codes, passwords etc that I can't avoid to add more to try and keep track of.

The M3 is a good general purpose light and I am glad I got one. The order number on the kit was 35336.

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

Create an account? That's not us - we don't have/offer customer accounts never mind require them - are you sure you went to the right site??

I'm at home right now so don't have access to your order info but please send us an email to customerservice AT batteryjunction.com with the info above and we'd be happy to get you sorted out.

I just received an emitter/bezel -- thanks, Matt. Ricky, please up the qc on the production and shipping inspection -- the emitter had a spot of that white silicone on it (I got it off with isopropyl alcohol) and there was more on the cross-hatching outside...

I ordered this to replace a damaged emitter assembly. What I'd like to know now is can the wire connections on the emitter assembly be repaired? On my original, the wire connections broke -- I think the black spacer moved just enough to break the wires when the bezel was screwed down. If it can be repaired, to whom do I send it? (I got it from BatteryJunction, naturally!)

Sorry about the QC. :(

I/we can't repair though I am sure it could be repaired - I think we may have some warranty spares here if you want to send it in - you have my email. :)

PS - I cannot believe you haven't written me yet re:Amondotech I was SO sure you'd be one of the first callers. :)

Matt, I'll contact you off-list regarding the broken emitter unit on that original M3. I think you may be confusing me with someone else re: Amondotech, though; I never did any business with the prior owner, but congratulations on the acquisition.

I just ordered an M3 kit (nice price) and as I understand it the emitter will be the P4. Is the only way to get a more recent bin to order the "extra emitter" with the Q2? Are there plans to offer a Q5 upgrade at any time? Thanks.

Hi,

it's my first post and I'm not a native speaker - so please excuse any faults.

A couple of days ago I received this from Ricky@Lumapower:
Not at this moment for M3's upgrade.
As soon as Feb-2008, we will consider more upgrade for this model.
I hope this helps.

But I got still an other question:
I the 1xAA configuration, which output (Fenix-lumen) and runtime I got to expect for the medium-mode with a normal AA (non E2)?
And the same question for CR123 configuration too.

Thanks
aces
