Sigline restrictions ?

Before the CPF/CPFM split-up,
I had a sigline and was able to change and edit
it up to a certain limit.

Now I wanted to change just 1 single word in my sigline and
then I would get an error saying my sigline is too long, etc...

However, if I don't change it and press cancel, it's not too long ?

Strange...

How can this be resolved ? :candle:

Your old sigline (the one imported from CPF at the time of the split), is "grandfathered". If you make any changes to it, it is no longer "grandfatherd" and the current restrictions apply. Why are there restrictions? Because when left up to some members to use their own discretion as to what is "appropriate"... and when depending on members to actually read the forum rules and faqs regarding siglines... well... setting restrictions is better than disabling siglines altogether.

I read the faq and sigline edit page but was unable to find the restrictions. It's nice that the old siglines were grandfathered in.

CPF is pretty lenient about siglines. Many other forums have character or smilie limits, others limit the user to text or photos ONLY. Some even restrict gear 'lists' to facilitate searching.

I thought the only restriction here was font size and image size? Is there a character limit, now?

It has been decreased since the split, and there's now a smilies limit too.
