View Full Version : Searching error
For some reason I can't use the search function It just returns a memory error.
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 35 bytes) in /var/www/vhosts/candlepowerforums.com/httpdocs/vb/search.php on line 1033This happens using both search types (advanced and normal)
Sorry If this has already been brought to your attention.
Also I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.4 But this also happens on the latest IE 7.0
Someone must know if there is a solution. :(

What are you searching for? If your terms are too common such as: "flashlight" or "light" you will indeed end up with an error such as you've posted or this one that I just got with "flashlight":
"Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 10 bytes) in /var/www/vhosts/cpfmarketplace.com/httpdocs/mp/search.php on line 885"
Perhaps a different search term? Then again, I may be waaaaaaay off base on this...

There are many threads over on CPF in the Questions forum addressing this issue and some of the solutions that some have found. You may want to check there... :)

LOL! Sasha your CPF lands are so vast, now I'll have to do a search at CPF to find the thread that gives some of the solutions to this search error.
I just gave up using it anymore....and either look up all the threads started by a member, or use google, or just move on to another topic. It is a disappointment given what I thought the upgrade and separating the marketplace would accomplish.
It's all good.
You might want to set your number of posts to view to 50 max. ;)
Could we bring back the google search button maybe?
My search terms have been anything, from 3 letters to 6 letters.

Lux... I guess this is why I tend to get testy and vague with my replies... :sigh: It would seem that the mods and admins are expected to do all of the "work" and individuals shouldn't have to actually look around and find the answers (which really are easily available) or THE GOOGLE SEARCH BOX themselves... even if it's so obvious that if it were a snake, they'd already be bit... :ironic:

Yeah, I had to laugh at that very next question....with the google search staring me in the face as I am posting this. Believe me, Sasha, I do understand what you are saying. I had dropped my number of threads to 30 a long time ago.
Actually my only real point of frustration with the separation is all the dead links I had bookmarked to various threads like this GB one are now broken. As a result, I end up doing way more searches and demands from the database....very often I find a member's name from alphabetical members list, have it display all threads STARTED by them, then start searching through all the topic titles. Very frustrating, and way more demanding on the site.
This most recent example was a Group Buy Bookmark started by FiveMega in 2005 titled "(CLOSED) Fivemega's 1300 Lumens M*g85 Powered by 9x150S Pila" (I didn't know the title until I found the thread after a long search process of all Fivemega threads)
