I ordered a G2Z, Camelbak Hydration System, and 36 surefire batteries for 14 bucks a box about 3 weeks ago. I was told the order was on hold till the batteries arrived. I found out today that they shipped Sanyo's instead of Surefires without telling me.
This will be my last dealing with Botach regardless of price and I will jump through whatever hoops necessary to return the Sanyo's out of principle.
LOSERS!

just checked on my order from them and it's due to arrive tomorrow. I have no idea what will be in the box now, but I'll certainly post with the results!

Early orders got SF123s.......(that's what I got) but it seems that after Botach got their supply cut off they scrambled to get Sanyos to fill backorders - then accompanied them with a story about a "war shortage" of available SF123s........at the same time SureFire dropped prices and had plenty available. images/icons/rolleyes.gif

isn't there something illegal about selling surefire batts but sending sanyo batts?
btw, how are these people still in business? friends in high places?

I love when I see these flames on Botach. People hate Botach but keep on buying and then get mad again and wonder how they stay in business. I have had good results with Botach but it must be because I'm lucky.

Yes I am. I order from them (not all that much), fully aware of the risks in doing so. The difference is you won't here me bitch and complain when they pull some crap like this. It's expected of them.

Marty is always...I mean ALWAYS...the one that pushes Botach! haha. I admit, I've bought some batteries because of his advertising...shame on me!
Seriously, I got my first batch of Surefires just fine...but I'm holding my breath on my second batch.

Marty Weiner,
I believe you. You will hold to your guns all the way to their next e-mail special.

This_is_Nascar,
I admire that you buy and don't whine. graemlins/icon14.gif
I bet when you buy from Botach you follow up with a call, only order sale items you know are in stock then cross your fingers, I know I do.
I don't know what to think and maybe I'm just whining about people whining but here is how I really look at it. "Cheat me once shame on you, cheat me twice shame on me! graemlins/icon3.gif

I just ordered a SF E2E from Botach and they sent me a E1 HA. Called them up and they said they'll ship me the correct one. Now, I have to wait another 7 to 10 days for it...and see what I get this time.

I'm not laughing at you, but at the situation. I think what's happened is very wrong! images/icons/mad.gif
BTW, B****h is one of the reasons I got into this business - I used to be one of their customers! I learned how not to run my business (without paying for a Harvard education)!
I'll shut up now!

Dan that's excellent! Make sure you post that in dealers corner as well.
Off Topic Rant
More of a comment than a rant--you ever looked at the posts in dealers corner? Ever notice the liberal use of exclamation points around there!?

Call for return authorization and ship them back. I returned mine last Tuesday and still haven't received a credit on my card. I live in L.A. and I'm sure they received them by Wednesday.

I just called and asked for a credit of the $6.01 difference between the $1.417 Surefire (36 for $51) vs. the current $1.25 for Sanyos (20 for $25). Lucy's supervisor (BK?!?) said he'd do it. I'll let you know when the credit comes through.

BK is the owner (B.K. Botach)himself.
BTW, I still haven't received credit for last weeks return. What a hassle.

I also got mine switched for Sanyo's. I've had manufacturers make substitutions in the past like that and normally i wouldn't make that big of a deal over it. But the really silly letter they sent with it explaining that there was a shortage of surefire batteries due to the impending war was a bit over the top.
i risked the order knowing full well the problems other folks have had with them becuase I've read about it here. I"m glad to have received anything at all! So I'll just keep these, but in future my money will go to Tactical warehouse or directly to surefire for them!
Does anyone have data that these GE/Sanyo batts are not as good as the surefire ones? When I bought my Brinkman it came with 2 of these exact same batts and they certainly worked fine. The GE ones currently in my NexNeedle are not showing any difference to the duracells that I originally had in it.
Thanks

James:
I have used the GE/Sanyo's from time to time over the past few years and found them to be reliable.
Never ran any tests against Duracell or Surefire but, the GE/Sanyo batteries have performed well.
The names GE and Sanyo are certainly not fly by night companies, so I would guess they would want to stay competitive and produce a good product.
I have not however found any of the 123 batteries at a price that compares with Surefires announced price of $1.25 each. The last Sanyos I bought by the case (48 batteries) were $1.87 each.

Finally, after weeks of hassling Botach for a refund and sending countless emails and faxes, I have a full credit to my c.c. account for the Surefire/Sanyo bait and switch.
Never again, never again.

Yes, I deleted myself from their mailing list.
Whatever you save on the cost of the merchandise will be overshadowed by the aggravation it will eventually cost you.
I can say gladly that I was never on their mailing list.
