I have a Infinity which words intermitently, apparently the thread has worn off so much that I can't get the light to on all the time. I fired off a mail to them. They (Julie Moncrieff) said they will send a replacement light with a envelope for me to return the light IF I provide them with an address and where I got the light and what colour is the LED. That was in the 13th of November 2002. Till now I received no light, I e mail them again on 20th December 2002. No reply. Now I am stuck with a light that functions intermittently. Is there something wrong with me or what? images/icons/frown.gif

You must have Julie's email address, but here's a couple more. I've found all of them to be very polite, professional, and helpful in the past. It must be one of those "Holiday Slip-ups"?
Here's a phone & fax also:

Hey Nerd,
Is it a regualar Infinity or an Infinity Ultra?
I may be able to help...
Best regards,
Randy
It's a regular infinity that turns itself off whenever it wants to. Or that it just won't turn on. But since I have filled the front of the head with clear epoxy so as to make it a flood light, plus I have tried to solder the positive contact point for better contact.. but the threads at the head have just worn out too much for it to me on all the time. Of cos I did those mods after I found it to be faulty in a bid to try and increase it's usefulness... Aw... nvm.. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't... just treat it as a nusiance den..
Dark Gear, thanks for your offer to help. I think I will just use this as a light for mundane task at nite... Since sending it in for warranty may not guarranty a return and the time taken would be so long anyways.... images/icons/smile.gif

Have you tried measuring the ground connection from the aluminum housing to the ground contact on the PCB? It's pretty much impossible for you to wear out the threads to the point where they won't conduct any longer- unless you used a dremel tool..

The dot at the base of the Star Trek symbol should show a direct connection to the outer housing (left dot sitting by itself); if not, that's your problem. You can easily fix it with a bit of 30AWG wire wrap wire and a small circlip (shown around the perimeter in the picture) made from a paper clip to bridge the connection.
For the Ultra, the ground connection is the square land (connected to the green colored ground plane)
Just tack the wire on the dot, and slip the wire under the circlip to make the connection.
