OK, this is definitely SPAM.
Cave Dave, you can post saying "I told you so".

Dinghuamin, you've posted this announcement 4 times now. I think we've got the message.
Please understand that one post is enough.

Actually, he can post many times in this forum. I'd rather it be done here than multiple times in other forums. Plus my email hasn't been spammed since I opened this forum.

I thought this was the purpose in the Manufacturer's/Dealer's forum. He is a member.

Leader,
as a matter of principle, good manners, I replied with a welcome aboard to CPF the first time I saw this post.
But near exactly the same thing has been posted 4 times now, all within a few weeks.

They are virtually identical in content. With the best will in the world, that seems like SPAM to me.
Empath,
the way you've worded that post, it reads like you're suggesting that the purpose of the "Manufacturer's/Dealer's" forum is SPAMMING.

Had Dinghuamin posted this canned announcement in another forum, I would quite possibly join you in speaking against such action. Instead, feeling he had an announcement of interest to the group, he joined as a member, and made his announcement in the forum designated for manufacturer's announcements in a thread created by him. One hundred percent of the replies made in that thread have been critical of his announcement, and he has been treated as unwelcome. Now I, like you, see some abuse in the thread. But the abusers I see that are misusing the thread for it's intended purpose are those like you and I. Here we're discussing propriety in a thread he created for his announcements, while we both know that such should really be discussed in one of the forums created for such discussion. My brother abuser, I fear that Dinghuamin is the only one posting to this thread with justification. Well... maybe the Boss is justified; after all it is his BBS, and he can go where he pleases.
Since you ran a search and found he had posted four times, using the same wording, you might have noted that he hadn't posted since January 28th. As rapidly as this group is growing, perhaps he felt the new members may be interested. His thread was essentially dead, and to bring it to life for the new ones to see would require a posting. Now you're offended by the fact that he found his previous wording expressed his message sufficiently. Perhaps Dinghuamin is not the conversationalist that you are, and once he finds an expression that does the job, he sticks with it. His ability to converse, and even his willingness to do so is something we will probably never know, since we've attacked him from the start. We haven't requested more information on his lights nor sought his thoughts or opinions. We've only told him we didn't like him. That does make us a pretty tuff audience to play to, doesn't it?
Presently we have 1411 members. I haven't seen 1411 posting. There are many out there reading that doesn't post. Hmmm... that's strange, since you don't even have to join to simply read and lurk. It must be that not everyone feels comfortable in formulating their words in print. What if they say the wrong thing.... or, heaven forbid, say the same thing twice? There are some out there that you're never going to hear. There's some that you're only going to hear when they've written their words beforehand, read them over and over to make sure it's just right, and some are not going to see any reason to rewrite their words to appease kibitzers.

Spamming is allowed in this forum and the dealers forum. To a small degree. But it can be counterproductive. It can turn off most buyers. I leave that judgement up to the factory/dealer representatives.
There are many freedoms here in the US. And on the Internet. That includes how I choose to run my little clubhouse and who I let in.

yes dinghuamin, and perhaps spamming is insanely annoying. It's also very illogical in this type of forum. but like you said, it's your right.

dinghuamin, Sir,
Thank you for your polite reply.
I think you may have misunderstood me and my intentions.
These posts below are quotes of myself, from another of your Topics,

Welcome aboard, dinghuamin. Nice to see another manufacturer posting.
Can I ask you to please add the full specifications of your range to the website ?
Here on CandlepowerForums, no detail is too small, everything about lights is important to us.

...... Member # 1125 seems to have troubled to:
A. Locate CPF
B. then register
C. make a first post
D. in the right Forum (admittedly, a generous 3 identical topics worth)
As dinghuamin is a Manufacturer, it seems appropriate to post in
"Manufacturer's Announcements"
(It's generally agreed that we need more input from *Makers of Lights*.)
Since it's posted in the right place, I don't see any reason not to give a new member the benefit of the doubt, and welcome a first posting, as befits a friendly forum. Perhaps the new member will in the future contribute something to our community.
Possibly, there is some misunderstanding of the nature of CPF, because of language reasons, or due to cultural differences.
Time will tell ......
lightlover images/icons/rolleyes.gif

I hope that makes my attitude clearer.
Regarding SPAM:
As I understand the conventions of this discussion board, generally, to start more than one Topic on the same subject, or to repeatedly post the same message is called SPAMMING.
Though I was pleased to see your Topic, to see it posted 4 times made me think that was a little excessive.
That is to say, that such a method can produce the opposite to the intended effect.
As has been pointed out when you posted almost exactly the same thing for the 5th time, in
Topic: name card LED flashlight-good promotional gifts, at: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=8&t=000145

Hey folks, cant we all just live together? images/icons/grin.gif
Really now its better to have something than nothing at all, perhaps a popup window could explain netiquette or procedures properly but here is my take on the situation, this posting weather its here or elsewhere did not bother me at all!! And i am interested even in purcasing these LED cards in the future, if this individual is shamed by members trying to "protect" the boards and he leaves it a loss to some if not all of us in developements that are benificial. Spamming is what i get in my hotmail, his was not, Also is another culture here we are dealing with, this is the internet and not a private social club. if it was posted in my forum of the Brinkmann mods i may remove it, thats because its technically MY forum. If he starts HIS forum and a member all of a sudden harps on an ARC product he has the right to delete that posting or at the courteous approach face the individual with suggestions as to their purpose. Sorry if I'm kinda slow but i just spent a grueling morning removing a record snowfall from our work property and THEN having to lug a 5 gallon bucket of hydraulic fluid 10 TIMES to refill a huge resevoir after a return line blew off and made my loader puke itself in the foot and a half of new snow images/icons/shocked.gif images/icons/rolleyes.gif images/icons/mad.gif
Big deal about multiple postings, I for one will apologize to this person and I hope he will offer more of his products at a reasonable rate for members of the CPF, welcome! images/icons/smile.gif

Daniel,
you seem to be covering a lot of ground in that post, but if that's a plea for Understanding, Peace, Love and Tolerance, I'm full to bursting of those virtues.
But I just gotta claim my right to reply to what I see as *banditry* ...... images/icons/grin.gif images/icons/smile.gif

Aww thats Ok images/icons/smile.gif It must be a lack of good topics or just a steady repeat of the same old questions over and over by the new members that does not generate any spark in me here. There are some real doldrums here at CPF lately, even the SFDB has better topics images/icons/tongue.gif
